It's worse than you think, he has 3 shut outs in a row.
Maybe Raymond's goal tonight will make the Leafs want him back? Raymond + Hiller + 3rd for Bernier?

So the pass on the game winning goal was not a part of his play? Like what the hell are you even saying? Those two 'stats' were actually 'plays', and they led to a 'win' in a one goal game.
Ya Russell gets stuck in his zone sometimes. Board play and puck separation are weaknesses because of his reach. And so to compensate for his physical limitations, he just becomes the best shot blocker of ALL TIME and demonstrates repeatedly to up his game when we need a win, and this is a bad thing?
Why don't you go stare at some binary code and I'll be glad I can watch Kris Russell contribute to winning hockey.

He has 3 shutouts in the AHL, and our division is full of AHL caliber teams?

He has struggled in the NHL for a long time. I wouldn't rest my hopes on a guy who's one bad goal from another downward spiral.

Take a deep breath and say one positive thing about the game. I'll help with some examples.
Frolik's saucer pass. Russell's saucer pass. Bennett's knee is still intact.
See? Life's not so bad!

Agreed, but I'm willing to try almost any goalie at this point. And I would only do it if they'll take Raymond back in the deal.

In one post you managed to make a case for why we should move him and why we can get a good return.

They better get this team a goalie now that they're back in this thing.

The thing is I could careless about all the fancy advanced stats. Sure he had a part in the game winner, but if he didn't get hemmed In his in zone every shift we mite win before it goes to OT. The guy spent so much time in his own zone, and turning over the puck. If he could effectively make smart plays to move the puck out of our zone the entire team would see better results.

Yup. Just dont see it happening till close to the deadline. Not from a lack of trying just because other teams arent playing ball until then. If BT gets a goalie before then and doesnt give up too much it will be a miracle.

Here is something strange. On this date last year, the Flames were 2 points behind both San Jose and Vancouver for a playoff spot and home ice. Tonight, they are 2 points behind both Arizona and Vancouver for a playoff spot and home ice.
8 fewer points overall mind you, but it is strange that they are basically at the same point.

Whats just as strange is it was a december losing streak that almost lost them the season last year and a december winning streak that got them back in it this year. The two seasons have been opposites in how they got here but at the end of the day here we are.

This season is almost the polar opposite of last year. Great start then a disastrous losing streak in December. This year it was a disastrous start with a great winning streak in December. Let's hope that whatever happens after this streak is not the opposite of last year too.
EDIT: Samonadreau posted this as I was typing

Russell was fine. Had a couple nice defensive plays, but was also one of a bunch of guys that forgot how to clear the damn puck in the third period.

This season seems to be the polar opposite of last year. They were great the first two months last year, terrible this year. Had an 8 game losing streak in December, putting their season on the rocks. Now they are on a 5 game winning streak, bringing themselves back from the dead. They were great at third period comebacks, usually after playing poorly in the first two periods. This year, they continually surrender leads in the third period, even more so than they came back last year.

A quick scroll through a couple of pages but I see some "get a goalie" talk. Hiller was damn impressible tonight and although it is easy to re look some of the ones that got by him, he shut the door on some very elite shooters in some critical moments.
I chatted with a few guys in my section and brought up a 50/50 debate.
Knowing what we know as of today about each player, should there be a draft taking every player of the last 4 years, I believe Johny goes #2 after McDavid. The guy is an absolute game changer. The dome went wild when he had his first OT shift. His first goal is one where many elite players get the puck and you know they have a good chance of it going in. Johny has a incredible ability to put the puck wherever he wants and needs the smallest of windows to do so!
Open the five hole? no problem
Shift the smallest degree to screen the goalie? no problem
Cover everything I want? no problem, I will go around the net and feed an open guy.

Good win by the Flames. Just not happy that they almost blew the game thanks to Hiller. I always thought the Flames sent the wrong goalie to the minors early this season. It should have been Hiller not Ramo. The last two games Hiller played is not giving Hartley a hard time who should start next game if both goalies are healthy. Anyways, too bad Gaudreau did not get that hat trick in OT. That was an awesome move. Gaudreau getting another assist on OT on a spectacular shot by Brodie.

Haven't watched sportsnet after getting home from the game but I could have sworn Johny went for a change and Backlund assisted that goal. Leave it to Saturday night game I take it easy at to not see the play correctly.
