This marks the 16th time this season the Flames have given up four goals.
They're omnipotent in 3-on-3. Our best players are better than everyone else's best players with the puck on their stick. They're smarter, anyway.
Get them a goddamn goalie. The team is not 'making it exciting'. The goalies aren't very good and they give up garbage all the time.
I really hope Bennett is okay. But he hid a separated shoulder so I await further confirmation. I feel like he may spend his share of time in sick bay, and It's going to be tremendously reassuring if Mark Jankowski manages to be a legit top six centre.
The whole team came to play tonight. It was a gritty win, heavy on the style points. Brodie's goal was poetry in motion.

Russell was good in his return.
+3, 4 blocks, and a beauty pass to Brodie for the winner.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Flames have benefited more than any team likely with the NHL point system. Such a fallacy when people look at OT loses and think that those points are the problem with the NHL system. Vancouver is much more deserving of their points as far few of them come from being able to steal the extra point in the gimmicky 3-3 on Shoot out, where as the Flames would firmly the worst team in the league without the gimmick points we've acquired this year.
I'm not complaining I'm glad we are winning, but we can't complain about the point system that is actually helping us more than any other team.

Getting a point for scoring a goal 3 on 3 with the pressure of sudden death OT vs. getting a point for losing but keeping it close
Flames deserve their 3 on 3 points
shootouts I would agree...but teams should get nothing for losing. Vancouver was 2nd in the division with the fewest wins in the entire NHL

I wonder if Bennett is actually not injured. He did underplay a shoulder injury so he could keep playing. Hopefully he actually is ok.

Vancouver has 10 regulation wins.
Calgary has 5 regulation wins.
We are 2 points back of them with a game in hand because we're great at a totally different sport which will not be played in the playoffs should we make the playoffs and should they miss.
They have a right to be frustrated.

So yeah, there is quite a bit to pick apart. Especially when talking about goaltending and goals allowed.

Oh for sure, but they did win and in the end that's what matters.
No question that the Hiller thing needs to get figured out....dude simply isn't an NHL level goalie right now. Ramo isn't a whole lot better but the team performs better in front of him. Ortio has lost his mojo as well and with the other G injuries, its pretty clear that Treliving has to earn his money and get something figured out.
Beyond that though the team looks pretty set although the ST have to get sorted out as well....that's where the coaching comes in and where the players need to really focus.

Does anybody know where I can get a replay of the Gio interview on "After Hours"? I had to take a long distance call that couldn't be avoided. I asked this question in a previous thread about getting intermission and post game coverage in video format. Previously when CBC had HNIC it was on the app and the website, no with Rogers I can only find bits and pieces of video clips.
Thanks!

He could do two things way better
1) win puck battles in the defensive end
2) make smart plays with the puck from behind the net
especially tonight.

If it's up to me I'm saving the second bullet for the "advanced stats" fanbois. Corsi is garbage.

I had hopes about a Bernier acquisition but with back to back to back shutouts in the AHL cost probably just shot up. Nonetheless something needs to be done about goaltending. Hiller is straight up trash right now and Ramo has been average at best during the last few weeks. Was really hoping Ortio would've dialed it in in Stockton but he hasn't been great there either.

I agree. Im not even the biggest Russel hater but this is my assessment:
I was shocked to see Him +3. He seems to get hemmed in his zone like no other player. Go for the block instead of taking the man and cant clear the puck. I would go back to last 3 games D pairings in a heart beat.
