For what it's worth (and I'm not a big practice-Tweeter), #Flames are crisp this AM -- one of the sharpest skates this year.

Flames are practicing in front of a bunch of Calgary area school kids this morning.

Lines look unchanged from last night. Jooris subbing for absent Monahan, Bollig subbing for absent Frolik. #Flames

Aaron Vickers @AAVickers
Smid taking reps alongside Wideman today. Engelland working the left side (Russell's spot) with Hamilton. #Flames

Strong indicator that Engelland will also sit out against the Bruins

Please, pretty please no more Red Light Ramo for a while.

Also, I don't get the Engelland benching other than maybe they feel there are too many RH shots. That's the only reaon I feel Smid is drawing in, to balance out the handedness of shots.

I liked Engelland's play. Quite honestly has been one of the more consistent d-men after Brodie this season.

I suppose Bob just trying to get Smiddy playing time so that he can basically have an interchangeable #6/7 guy. Call it 6A and 6B ha.

They have been playing a double left and double right pairing for the past while. I think Smid has also really been pushing for an opportunity. Listening to him on the Fan the other day he desperately wanted a chance to help the team. He was great last night and doesn't deserve to sit. I think Wideman is more useful than Wngellend so he sits. Hoping the Flames can dump one of those 3 before next season

And the other option is? Hiller? Hiller with a worse start to the season than Ramo? Like it or not, Ramo is the best option at the moment unless the Flames pick up another goalie. He has let in some stinkers (and had some stinky games), but he has been by far the best goalie this year for the Flames since being recalled from Stockton.

No, Hiller will get as good or better than Ramo if he gets a run of starts.

And exactly how good has Ramo looked even with 13 starts in 14 games? The Flames won despite him last night.

I'd rather watch Hiller get up to speed than suffer through another Karri Ramo start. I don't know how people can support the guy honestly. He's the worst goalie by a mile.

Ramo is bad but Hiller is not any better.

Ramo is the better of the useless goalies we have. I think if you gave Hiller a chair to sit on in the net he wouldn't move at all, laziest goalie I've ever seen.

Ramo since call-up:
13GP
7-6 record
.903 Sv%
2.78 GAA

Hiller prior to injury:
8GP
2-6 record
.847 Sv%
3.30 GAA

Ramo's numbers ain't nothing to brag about, but if the playoffs are still your main goal, stick with Ramo (unless you can pick someone up via trade).

Look, if you're going to drop numbers, drum up the numbers from Ramo before Hiller went down and before Ramo got waived.

Hiller is the better goalie. Give him a run of starts like Ramo got and I guarantee the numbers will back it up.

I'm fully aware of my preferencial bias on this topic, but even in Ramos extended run of starts, he's barely been on par. Hanging by a thread.

He's not going to get better, in fact, in typical Ramos fashion, he will get worse. Its the same for Hiller, but he should get his run.

Just because you say it doesn't make it true. Hiller may have been career numbers but you can't deny he's been beyond garbage this year. I have no real allegiance to either goaltender, I just want the guy who gives the team a better chance to win, which at this point is Ramo. Of Hiller's 8 GP he has 2 games where his goals against is less than 4 and his Sv% is greater than .857. That is abysmal, and giving him a run of games in the hopes he turns it around is a terrible strategy.

Of Hiller's 8 GP he has 2 games where his goals against is less than 4 and his Sv% is greater than .857. That is abysmal, and giving him a run of games in the hopes he turns it around is a terrible strategy.

Yeah and it was a terrible strategy too with Ramo, and has led to this discussion. To say Hiller has been worse than Ramo this year is stupid. Who got sent down on waivers huh? Who? Was that because he was so good? No. Hiller got injured. He hasn't been good but he also hasn't had a run to get his mojo going either. It's true to me because I believe it. Ramo's worse always has been, always will be.

LOL. You guys arguing which goalie is better. They are both horrible, and neither should be a starter.

I will agree with "dammage 79" that if they gave Hiller a long string of starts, like they gave Ramo, that he would get better. The problem is Hiller would probably improve his play up to par with Ramo. Again neither goalie should be a starter.

The only thing you can argue about the 2 goalies is which style of play you like better. I can see why posters would like Ramo better for his style. I could care less about style. Need a goalie that does not let in soft goals every game and can keep the flames in games.
