The whole team is outside of Grant, Granlund, Agostino and Hamilton. Shore, Elson & Arnold are within 2 points of Poirier and seem to get more ice-time (Arnold and Shore are often on the top PP unit). Poirier has been creating offensive opportunities but they just aren't going in. My only complaints about Poirier this year would be that he seems to take a lot of penalties, often for running the goalie and he isn't shooting enough, he's had 28 shots in 13 games and 13 of those came in the last 4 games. However over the last few games he is shooting the puck more and staying out of the penalty box, if he keeps that up goals will come and so will assists since the opponents will be focusing on his shot a bit more.

That's why I think he was making adjustments to his game in the early going of the season to make sure that he's heading to places that he can utilize his skills. The type of game he played worked well in Juniors, but typically it is difficult to beat defenders one on one. Now he's getting into the proper places to fire shots and is not trying to do everything by himself.

Just some (brief) general thoughts on the Heat lately:
Kylington has been playing a ton of minutes lately. He's really coming into his own. He had an awful game on Friday night (despite scoring), but that's been his problem - consistency. That's expected. I won't admit I was wrong yet about sending him to the WHL, but the more and more he plays, the more and more he changes my mind.
Ortio had a really rough first game for the Heat. Yeah, the blame can be shared on the defense a bit, but it was mostly Ortio. On Saturday he looked like old Ortio, which is a huge relief.
Hunter Smith had an awesome weekend. Not just because of the two points either.
I'm going to keep beating this drum. Nakladal shouldn't be in the AHL. He's way too good.
Shore's been a beast for the last eight games.
Kenney Morrison is god awful.
The power play went 4/12 this weekend. Well above their season average of 16.4%. The penalty kill? Well... that's another story.

My favourite moment was on the main board somebody said they thought Morrison would compete for a top 4 role in training camp this year, not on Stockton, on Calgary! LOL. The kids we drafted this year had a better shot of making it.
