Why not just callup a scrub from the farm each time your team plays someone who is on fire and cross check the Crosbys, Ovis, Stammers & Benns as hard as you can in the throat.

Scrub gets a 1 gamer, star is out of the game. Not honorable, but that's basically the message the league is sending.

The Islanders basically did this in 2010/11 when they were employing all of Konopka, Martin, Gillies, and Haley.

Gillies and Haley in particular served no purpose rather than to thug it up.

Ok, but I'm referring to the actions being institutionally mandated repeatedly, not the actions of a lone jerk. If a coach set orders on a call up to hurt a specific player every other game there'd be consequences eventually.

Because he broke it over Crosby's back after Sid was laying injured on the ice.

Clearly no remorse there. I think the suspension should have been longer. Say 5 games.

Maybe that's too much, but I don't like to see dirtiness in hockey and the only way to get rid of it is harsher suspensions.
