Oh and just a note (threw it in the WMMH thread last year):

If you wear your jersey to any Crowfoot liquor location on game day you get 15% off.

I think that you are remembering Sortilege. It's a maple whiskey blend. I noticed it because it actually uses whiskey in its cream version, as opposed to the better known Cabot Trail, which uses rum. More maple, and more authentic than the Crown Royal Maple, and the cream version is more interesting than the traditional Bailey's, in coffee.

I've decided to pick up the Glendronach 15. Thanks everyone for the recommendation. Interesting to note, as well, that since the Glendronach distillery went down, and was bought by Benriach 6 years later, the whiskey in Glendronach is as much as six years older than the label. At least until they run out of the old stock, and that six year window catches up to them.

Forgot it's still football season.

Flames or stamps (has to be the game day of the team jersey being worn, i.e. Stamps jersey for Flames game in December won't work as far as I know. ).

Any other jersey there's no discount.

Edmonton, Vancouver, and Saskatchewan jerseys get charged double.

I nabbed myself a bottle of the Kilchoman Sherry cask strength. I can definitely say Kilchoman has a new fan now and I eagerly await their decade old stuff. You can definitely tell it's a young spirit but that flavor depth is amazing for something so young.

I understand the comparisons to Lagavulin etc. But it does do a disservice to both scotches if you try to compare them or think of Lagavulin when you consume this spirit. I think Harry hit the nail on the head with his earlier comments.

One thing I noticed, the aftertaste is ridiculously long. I had Laphroaig 10 about an hour after consuming the Kilchoman and the flavor was completely messed up as the Kilchoman flavor was still there and mixing with the flavor of the Laphroaig.

Just purchased a Glenmorangie 18 Extremely Rare. Looking forward to tasting. Also have a Aberfeldy 21 I need to crack.

2015 was my introduction to Scotch from a full appreciation perspective. It was my NY's resolution and I am happy to say I commited to it! Thanks for all of your insight on here. Experienced or Novice, comments are all of value.

My Cabinet now consists of the two above and Dalwhinnie 15, Balvenie 14 Caribbean Cask, Balvenie DoubleWood 12, Glenlivet 15 and a Glendonach 12.

Appreciate any comments and/or recommendations. It is the best time of year to expand the palate and bar. Usually are some good buys out there as well.

Thanks and Cheers.

I have that Glenmorangie 18 as well and haven't cracked it. Now I have had it for a few years and need a reason as opposed to just having a drink watching the game I guess!

Strathisla 12 year old.

Strathisla distillery is the oldest continuously operating distillery in Scotland. It was founded as the Milton Distillery by George Taylor and Alexander Milne in 1786 as an alternative to the waning of flax dressing industry.

One of the best scotches I have had lately and for a really good price too ($50)

I don't know how anyone buys a nice bottle and resists the urge to taste it the same day. My most recent purchase:

This stuff is unreal. Given my tastes in Scotch (I'm a Speyside guy) it's close to perfect.

And a couple of others that aren't scotch:
Spoiler!

Coffee, sure, but better yet given the season, Sortilege and eggnog is unbelievable. Little nutmeg on top... damn.

I have a bad habit of consuming more until bottles are empty, then opening a new one. I am nearly done a bottle of Highland Park 12 (might be 3 oz left maybe?) 1/3 done a bottle of Laphroaig 10 in less than a month because of it (usually takes 3-4 months to finish a bottle).

I want to bring my Hibiki harmony (discovered they just started selling these here, first time I've seen a Hibiki here and wanted to try it) out as well as officially bring out my bottle of Kilchoman Sherry cask (rather than the tastes I keep sifting out of it).

I have also discovered that the new Mewata Armory Coop Liquor store is well stocked so accessibility is easier than before... I am in trouble.

I try not to have more than a finger or so, no matter how delicious it is.

Alberta Premium is actually quite good for the price point.

I am also surprised that Crown put out a special whiskey that won 2016 world whiskey of the year.

Great whiskeys to have from time to time if you're on a budget, but neither I assume are any of our favourites (nor on our "do not bother list" due to crappy taste.
