Default Coyle springs to the Desert

(Montreal)- Hours after being told to pack his bags, Charlie Coyle was sent to Arizona- in exchange for Evander Kane. Montreal will also include an 2016 2nd & 2017 3rd.

(caption) Evander seen answering the call from Habs brass, welcoming him to the squad.

The Habs are excited to bring in a player who will play first line minutes. A much different role, than the third line role he had in Arizona. Hopefully he will fit in nicely and not throw off the good chemistry in Montreal.

On an NHL level, it will be interesting to see how he bounces back from injury. Hopefully he'll mature and keep his clothes from the showers.

As for Coyle, he was in a role he could not succeed in. He was counted on unfairly to score goals. Habs management reached out to Coyle and asked which teams he would be interested in moving to- he said, 'just one, Arizona.' The calls were made and within a two counter offers- it was done.

Thanks to Flambers for the deal, and all other GMs who reached out.

At first I thought this was an awful deal for Phoenix, but man at this point you have to start worrying about Kane.
If he turns it around it is a home run for Montreal. But Kane is venturing into Dion Phaneuf territory - a guy who's best years may have been in his first couple in the league.
Plus he's a wiener.

I think it's a great deal for Montreal because I think Kane is still going to be good. I like Coyle, but he isn't nearly as good as Kane and those picks are a long way away from anything, especially the 2017 3rd.

Good risk reward deal for the habs. Kane may continue to be a ##### head in Buffalo in which case mtl loses a decent 2nd line player in Coyle (very replaceable though). However, if Kane finds a place he's welcome he'll be surrounded by some.prerty good hockey players and could be a 30/30 or better kind of guy. I'd take that chance 10/10 times.

Awesome deal, well done GMs. It's a risk for Montreal, but if Kane stays healthy and gets his act together, this is a landslide win for the Habs. I like Coyle though and even though he doesn't have the upside that Kane has, he's a safe bet as a solid 2nd liner.

In my opinion E Kane is simply over-rated, all skill and very limited hockey sense.......

My best guess he will be a 2nd liner in the NHL but his day's as a first liner are very questionable (i.e. Phaneuf like).

Coyle on the other hand has the ability to be a good player. Question is can he produce with the Wild?

Its a risky trade by the Coyotes, probably a longer term deal.

Thanks for the trade!
