While I don't believe this theory, I was musing over the idea that it would be funny if Abrams was punking us by not being deceitful in how the trailers are put together. That Finn really is the heir to the Skywalker legacy after Lando knocked up Leia after ROTJ. Even after leaving Cloud City, Lando would still have contacts there that could have recovered Luke's lightsaber for his force sensitive son.
And, of course, when Chewie found out, he ripped Lando's arms off, which is why Lando isn't in the new Trilogy. Maybe 3PO got in the way and also had an arm ripped off. It would explain 3PO's new red arm.
I'm throwing out my two cents on the prediction. I should start by mention this is pure speculation on my part and I'm only basing it on what is shown in the trailers.
Why hasn't Luke made an appearance yet in the trailers. I've seen everyone but him and the big bad guy seems to have a fixation with Vader. My hunch is that the new bad guy is Luke!

Hyperdrive fuel can't melt Cloud City support beams.

The guy with the Vader obsessed is Kylo Ren. He played by Adam Driver, not Mark Hamill.

All I know is how much I love the clip of Kylo Ren lowering his light sabre in front of Rey's face. I love how her expression turns from fear to outright terror; possibly the most threatening scene with a light sabre so far.
If we get more scenes like that I don't care if Luke is playing some kind of power games or what.

Its funny because they had this one great concept through the first 6 movies.
In the TPM everything was fairly bright and shiny and new looking, you look at the weapons and the ships and they had almost like a Flash Gordon feel to them with shiny surfaces and lots of color and fins.
This stayed the same for the first half of the second movie, but you began to see a lot of darker colors and duller colors and more efficient looking militaristic designs to them.
By the third movie everything in the fore ground was fairly dull colored and matted muted, and for the most part very simple. The best image was the final image of the jedi cruiser where all the colors and paint marks had been removed.
In the fourth movie, everything non imperial had a certain dusty worn down scarred appearance. Everything Imperial was gray or black but still clean and maintained. This look continued through the next movie with the exception of cloud city, but when the Empire came the lighting became almost muted and smokey.
In ROTJ it was the same thing, everything rebel related had this worn down muted look with flashed of color that almost seemed to be dulled by dust and scoring. The Empire upped the dull colors when the Emperor arrived with the exception of the Imperial guard. But even the hero's clothing had taken on a battered decidedly non maintained look. The only real explosion of color was when the Death Star exploded,
In this movie when you see the Resistance equipment and non first order equipment it not only has a worn muted look, but a lot of it looks like its on the verge of breaking. On the first order side, the only color is in the banners, and with Phasma who wears chrome even though its scarred and scuffed. Kylo's cloak looks battered and worn down as well.
I guess the message is that the galaxy is pretty much worn through by centuries of combat.

Who is a mo cap character played by Andy Serkis. Not Mark Hamill.
Supreme Commander Snoke, we don't know much about who he is beyond some fairly criptic remarks by Serkis in the interview.
He could be a Force User or he could just be a military commander. We do know he's an alien and the voice in the first trailer talking about the force stirring.
He might be the big bad, he might not be the big bad.
I think that we have to throw out the concept of anything that we know about the Sith in this movie, my gut is that the villains are not the Sith, we've seen a cluster of the Knights of Ren, but we don't know how powerful they really are in the force.
We know that Ren wants to finish what Vader started. not the Emperor but Vader.
That could mean a lot of things
Wiping out the Jedi could be one of them that one is fairly obvious and stands out, Vader was driven by anger over what he perceived as the betrayal of the Jedi that left him a smoldering wreck of a man.
Seizing control of the galaxy, this one I don't believe would be the ultimate aim of Snoke, but remember Vader wanted to overthrow Palpatine and rule and bring order to the Galaxy with his son.
Bringing balance to the force, Anakin was the prophesized chosen one that could bring balance to the force, but that could be interpreted in any way that you want. Maybe Ren and his master believe that they are on a mission to balance the force that is still in their mind out of balance.
