And this is exactly what is said in the last half of the article. He pretty much says its wishful thinking and it would be impossible. The only radical idea I saw in the article is that the US should have made a seperate Kurdish state in Iraq. It is an interesting idea, but I don't think it would be that feasible.

As to remarks about Israel, I generally agree. But, the same is true for the Arab-Palestinian side. There are too many groups that thrive off that conflict for their ever to be peace.

it's the 'chunk' taken off of iran - that's where the majority of its oil is.

this idea is gaining ground, believe it or not, in the echo chamber think tanks rattling plans around washington. the article is this guy's take on its possibility, but he didn't come up with the map.

sadly, as the 1990s drew to a close, religious extemism eclipsed palestinian secular nationalism as israel's enemy. this was not by accident in my opinion. EDIT: as in saudi, american, even some israeli interests are involved in the formation of Hamas.
