Flames lose agian meh.... I like hockey and will continue to watch.

Still beats watching any othe sport to me. I can handle this rebuild for another year or two but after that it starts drifting into Oil/Islander/Panther/Leaf territory then Ill bring out my torch and pitchfork.

The lack of finish on the scoring chances factors in the losses also. The guys are trying but seem to be snake bitten.

Flamers playing very predictable hockey today.

Reminded me of some EA sports NHL online opponents.

Skate in offensive blueline, stop, look at options, try cross ice pass, goalie stops the play or turnover.

For what it is worth, on the radio broadcast tonight, Peter Loubardias said that he thinks that Giordano is not 100% and is playing with something.

I'd go out on a limb and say its his shoulder still. It was as close to an amputation without sawing the bone and skin off with the muscle.

Yeah right. They never get that far.

It is absolutely comical that the flames who are 6-12-1 are only six points out of a playoff spot. What a horrible division.

Some of the posters have commented on how hard it is to commit 100% to a game or the team this year and I concur.

Personally I just turned 30 so maybe it's a priority, lifestyle thing. I usually watch 70+ games a year, listen to pre/post game coverage on tv or radio and I am a semi-regular caller on 960 Overtime.

I think the biggest factor for my blah feeling about the season this year is the fact that deep down I know its almost a lost season. I mean the team still has a chance at playoffs but there is nothing on the ice performance that inspires a confidence the team has, I dunno 40 wins or so in them?

During the darker years from 09/10 - 13/14 seasons at least the team was competitive until at least late March so the entertainment and engagement level was higher.

Coming off such a great season last year and having the team win a playoff round was amazing. Something has happened 6 months later that has completely altered a lot of emotions here for a lot of fans and I am glad to see I am not the only one feeling this way.

All the best the way of the year but its looking more and more like a looooong winter or frustration.

Has to be. I don't expect him to be Norris-worthy every year but the drop off this season has been unreal. Not the same player at all.

So many great chances in the 3rd they could have won this. Still not a great looking team right now, but they easily could have had more points on this trip. Just not meant to be I guess.

Just have to remind yourself that this team isn't a Cup contending team, even if they were playing well. They are still a few years away. So watch the Bennetts and Gaudreaus and other youngsters improve and hopefully Treliving can make a few moves that will indeed make this a Cup contending team in the next 3-4 years.

How far these teams have fallen. It use to be be the hardest to play in now is a joke. Thats life tho. Ever evolving.

Wideman seemed particularly slow tonight. I thought there were a couple of plays where he had plenty of time, yet the Chicago player got to the puck instead and managed to gain possession in the Flames zone.

If Treliving can't trade Wideman, Hartley should just sit him out. Bring Kulak or Nakladal back up.

If so, he should realize he's stinking up the joint and helping no one by being tough and playing through pain.

I guess a positive from this game was that Monahan looked pretty strong on the dot against Toews.....

I think we are forgetting that Gio looked very average after his big injury before last season. Like real bad. Hopefully he picks up his play because the drop off has been pretty bad. He was great last season so no reason he can't play better.

I thought that was a fun game to watch, and much more even than the score would suggest. The Flames just couldn't finish and that was the difference. A fairer result would have seen this one go to OT.

Ramo looked good again. The Hawks have a gem in Panarin. The Flames still need more offence from the D or, failing that, another catalytic player up front.

On to the next one.

On pace for over 25 goals, pending UFA David Jones could bring back a decent return as a rental. Not bad as a third line depth player for a playoff bound team.

Some assists would help though.

I hope this is true but there are lots of reasons that might stop him from playing better, if he is still injured or not the same player after the surgery or god forbid he has lost a step and this is the new Gio. I guess its just not a given that he will return to the form we saw last year.

Patience, friends. Patience. It sucks to lose, but the core group is young, and some contracts come off the books this year. So long as there's progression with the young guys, we're on track. Bennett, Gaudreau, hell-even Hamilton-all these guys are showing growth. And that's a good sign. (And yes, I'm drinking during games now.)

It would be interesting to see the defense goals and point production right now compared to this time last year. Theres not much production from the D right now which was where a lot of our success came from last year.
