They waived both of them. Byron would have cleared too if it weren't for the Kassian incident.

The whole Byron scenario is a microcosm of what's gone in Calgary this season.

You let a guy go for nothing, a guy who worked his ass off for you last year and generated tons of speed and offensive chances. Meanwhile, guys like Raymond and Bollig are still here.

What exactly do those guys bring to the table on a night in, night out basis?

The Flames need more guys like Byron, not less.

I say leave Ortio in there. I mean what's the difference at this point? May getting absolutely embarrassed will be good for him and the team.

I have no doubt the Flames will find their groove. They will be much better than 2-8-1 over the rest of the season. Point being, the hole is too deep to make the playoffs in this tight league now.

Flames are much better than people thought they would be this time last year, but they also got good fortune to make it.

I'll be a real fan, accept tgeir fate, but cheer on the progress of our young players thus year, and hope management doesn't falter into short term thinking this year and keeps playing the long game.

How many games until Hartley's fired?

It's funny. The stats guys talk about regression, and I'm starting to get the sense Calgary burned up two seasons worth of positive mojo last year leaving Murphy's law in full effect for this season. It's actually unbelievably bad.

Good for Byron though. Bet that felt awesome.
