Russell is ideally your #5 - 6 guy. Everyone is dropping the ball so much that they are rotating him in and out of #3 - 5.
Consistency and reliability is an issue across the board out there.

I would add Bennett has played fairly well since hooking up with Johhny. Why is Raymond in the NHL ? the dude is about as helpful and useful as a broken down Zamboni.

This is painful & becoming ever more frustrating. I can only hope, and I'm sure everyone here is on the same boat, that management, coaching and the players figure out a way to dig themselves out of this hole they've dug for themselves. Nothing is ever impossible in professional sports, so they can definitely turn it around, but something needs to change & quick.

I don't think the team has any confidence in any of the goalies either. And rightfully so.

Ortio doesn't look any better than the other two... Sure the defence is screwing up but a good goalie bails his team out... at least once!

The 1st and 3rd goals were definitely weak goals and the other two while not weak were definitely saves that could have been made.
The Pelley-Smith goal was tough in that he was all alone but that was a very weak shot he ended up taking.

Goaltending is brutal on this team.
Also:
Giordano - Brodie +2
Russel - Wideman -3

What's Leland Irving doing these days? Surely he could play better than these scrubs.

Pretty hopeless as a fan right now, doesn't even matter if the Flames are dominating or are stuck in their own zone for most of the game, either way everything the opposing team throws at us finds a way into the net and meanwhile we can't buy a goal. It's absurd. We haven't even been that bad the past few games aside from a few players.

Yes, Gaudreau is worth watching all the time. If we base leadership with play, he should be wearing the C

out of 4? At least two were poor goals, and 3 were saveable. He is just backup quality at this point. Maybe he can work his way up in the future, but right now he is proving himself the worse of the flames' three options

I still contend that Ortio could not see either the shot or the puck on the 3rd goal. His body language screams of it.
When that happens, as a goaltender all you can do is guess base on circumstance. The shot was in a bit closer, so he got low and spread out in a standard pose. The puck didn't hit him.

Flames are winning the Corsi battle tonight.
Except Wideman and Russell. They aren't winning.

How many more goalies need to hang before the team realizes the D is the issue though? i'm not blindly defending the goalies but hot dang. Three goalies being hung out to dry regularly is an eye opener.
