Very happy to have Gillies down in the AHL this year performing well. I hope he is the starter next year for Calgary.

I think sitting Hamilton will get a lot of media reaction around the league, and even more negative attention probably isn't what the Flames think Hamilton needs right now.

Good point. He needs to loosen up, not tighten up. It's just a tough situation all around. I just wish he would show some emotion, get mad, anything.

Without Gaudreau we'd be pooched. In fact, part of the problem may be other guys deferring to him too much.

Keep Russell and Hickey. Trade Hamilton.

Disagree N-E-B...D-Zone Coverage was AWFUL by your guys, starting in the 2nd...Hiller wasn't great, but he shouldn't have to stop 3 or 4 shots per flurry...the Rags had too much room in between the circles, down to the crease.

Offensively, Raanta was tested in the first, but, not so much as the game progressed.

FWIW, didn't last year's Flames get shut out by Talbot? I guess 1 goal is an improvement on that.

At this rate, I wouldn't rule it out. He looks pretty unhappy so far in a Flames jersey.

Whatever happens, Calgary really needs a young potential Iginla right now and have D men of all ages to spare.

I liked Grant, Bennett played well and even Jooris. Backlund was solid as was Frolik. The rest not so much.
For a game I thought we dominated at times we really have to score. We were so good for so long but nothing to show for it.

Colbourne was great tonight I thought. Skated well and generated chances.

 Yikes. We are in tough.

There's simply no secondary scoring right now. This is a one line team with below average goaltending. Not a recipe for success. Numerous scoring chances the team had without even testing the goaltender as they are going for perfect top corner goals. Team needs to get to basics and just put pucks on net.

I don't. He's a poor possession d-man who can't recover the puck in his own zone.

I love him for his heart, but he does not play an effective defensive zone game. Great shot blocker, but struggles keeping players to the outside, can't clear the front of the net and can't win battles along the boards.

First game at the MSG, great atmosphere. A lot of Flames fans at the game.Strong start for the flames, but didn't do much after that.
Whoever is going to Barclays tomorrow, see you there.

I am encouraged that there were signs of life. Sometimes you have to play better and lose before the results come.
Frolol and Bennett have played fairly well. Yet their additions have not improved the forward play as a group really. I'm surprised.

And honestly Hamilton has been more than just a disappointment. He is hurting the team so far.

Patience and big picture. Keep repeating...

If we don't get some secondary scoring this could be a long season.

Hiller just isn't playing well but looks like we are stuck with him. Oh well, I hear Auston Matthews isn't bad at hockey.

so this is the 3rd worst start in Flames history including Atlanta? Last year Trelivng wondering how we will score goals kept him up at night. Flames got the bounces last year and rode that mojo all season long. This year it does not appear much scoring outside of the top line. I assume once Brodie comes back we see a D for a forward trade
