Brandon Dubinsky was always in Tortorella's doghouse in NY. Could see him on the way out like Huselius when Keenan was hired.

I have never heard of this not showing up for practices. I will ask around tomorrow when at work. Interesting if true.

Really? So the Canucks stop paying him his ridiculous salary and get a 2nd rounder out of the deal?
Looks like Christmas comes early in Vancouver this year.

Reports are Canucks will still be paying part of Tort's salary while he is in Columbus.

When do we play Columbus? That's probably when our season gets turned around.
edit: Jan 21 ... way too late

They can retain salary on coaches now? Since when? I miss all the neat little rules.

It's two minutes from Delta, which is where some players live. Many, many canucks and Grizzlies have lived there and will live there in the future. It's not like he was living in New York and working in Vancouver, making it impossible to get to the rink each day.

Tell you what, I'll leave from North van and you leave from point Roberts. $100 on me arriving to Rogers arena at least 25 minutes before you. At least.
Your point of him not living in bc not being a big deal is spot on, but don't say it could get to the rink in the same time as people from the north shore. That's just silly talk.

EE...I disagree...he seems an overrated, inflexible, screamer...his my way or the highway treatment of players wears swiftly...
I see this hiring as soon to be every bit of the disaster that Torts to Vancouver was...
I commented that when Richards benched Dubinsky for a selfish penalty in the Chicago game, that there might be repercussions...for Dubinsky, this repercussion couldn't be much worse!

His record speaks otherwise as he's won a cup and he has won his share of playoff series. He's not a HOF coach but he's a winner. I get that he's a polarizing guy and all and he's not a good fit for every single team but there are worse head coaches in the NHL today.

It has always been the case. Coaching contracts are guaranteed. If the new team is only willing to pay the coach less than what he was making with old team, the old team has to pay the difference.

EE...Columbus, in goal, in particular, has players with confidence problems...Bob, just isn't exactly a very veteran Khabibulin, that Torts won with in TB...nor are the BJs other options in net all that impressive...Torts' criticism of goaltenders, his confrontational personal style, and the BJs general lack of completely developed talent, along with an apparent unwillingness to adapt system to available talent (IMO, his main weakness in Vancouver), all lead me to believe that he will be a bad fit in Columbus, and in the "New" NHL in general.

If I get to pick the time of day, and location in North Vancouver, then you are on. You are also not allowed to take the sea bus.
It depends on the bridge, traffic, suicide jumpers, etc. It took me 45 minutes to go from the Pier Hotel to Yaletown by car the few times I've had to travel that route. I've also been coming back from Whistler and taken over an hour to get from Taylor Way to downtown. I've driven to/from Point Roberts many times, and although it's longer, the traffic moves much better, depending on the tunnel.

Tortorella does his media obligation before his team skates, and then usually goes home.
It’s odd. Has been all year.
He did the same Saturday.

it was morning skates he didnt attend, was never on the ice with the team
the team even put a murphy bed in his office so that if he needed to take a nap he would stay in the city, still went home to Point Roberts

I could be at the top of Grouse at 2am and still beat you to Rogers.

Taking a look at the Blue Jacket's depth chart, and their farm team, that looks like a very well built organization

Regardless your profession, I think it important that you live where you work.
I have lived in smaller communities near larger centres and when we had doctors, teachers, police officers etc. working in the community but living elsewhere, it never really worked out. I'm sure its still an issue in that and other communities, if it's a good enough place to take a paycheque from it should be a good enough place to raise a family, make friends and spend that paycheque.

Gleneagles Golf course at 3pm. I get that's in West Vancouver, but I did say that in my first email. 2am cuts all your traffic out, which is what I was implying. If you want to make it North Van, then Grouse Mountain is acceptable.
I really think they are drives that take similar times. Point Roberts is obviously further.

Well it's not that CLOSE but it's a nice location and I'd rather live there than most places around here.
