Oh well, looks like we have to survive another Liberal govt.

I don't hate the party, I just cannot get behind Trudeau. He doesn't seem anything like a leader to me.

Trudeau.

Harper.

Any questions?

Time for some Western Separation to emerge. We have been silent for too long.

I just hope the leadership convention is sooner rather than later. If his ego won't allow him to step aside then I hope his party urges him to do so.

I think the Tories effectively campaigned for Trudeau.
The Tory strategy was basically two pronged. Make it a Harper vs. Justin issue, and then focus on the economy and make it an argument of Trudeau's debt and deficits against Harper's balanced budget. The first part worked, the second didn't. Trudeau managed to avoid saying something stupid again, which also helped the Liberals.

The first part, in fact, may have worked too well. If Harper hadn't completely dismantled the NDP, it's probably a Conservative minority.

No shot Harper stays on as MP for any significant length of time. He's been PM for 9+ years and has to be totally exhausted at this point. If he can't be PM, I doubt he wants to be opposition leader temporarily, and definitely not as a backbench MP. I see him gone in 3 months or less, probably won't resign from his seat tonight but in short order he will.

With coyne saying pollsters didn't predict this I would say they did show a trend of growing liberal momentum. So at the time of the poll it may have been correct.

I don't trust him and his party. The ghosts of Liberal pasts have me very wary.

I found those 'he's just not ready' ads both the most memorable and the most condescending, and I suspect they actually solved Trudeau's biggest problem, up until then he did appear to be just a bit lightweight, those ads gave him political gravitas.
