Man its hard watching shows like that really brings back alot of feelings I had during that time. I watched a half hour of the program then I couldnt watch anymore too much for me.

I remember when I first heard about the plane hitting the WTC. I was on my way to class at SAIT, around 7:45 listening to the Fan 960, i hear that a plane had flown into the wTC. I am thinking it is a small cesna, and who could be dumb enough to hit the WTC, thinking that if it was cloudy, it may be possible, but didn't think anything of it, even joked with a few of my classmates about it.
Then my instructor told us that 2 planes had hit the WTC.
Anyway, I spent the rest of the class looking at pictures, and talking to people I knew in the states. I didn't get any work done that day, and even considered going to NYC to help.

Powerful images for sure. Recreating the feeling of the day when we all saw live the second plane hitting and the worst fears were realised sent shivers.
I never realised so many jumped.

It still brings tears to my eyes 5 years later. I couldn't even imagine what must be going through your head to make you rather jump over 100 stories than die of asphyxiation.

Actually I've heard that the Flight 93 movie that just came out on DVD treats it with a great deal of realism and sensitivity and isn't just a hollywood adapatation of the event. I haven't seen it yet and don' t know if I will but it generally is said to be quite good.

As for this film tonight I thought it was very good. Difficult to watch but worth it.

I've heard (or read) that one of the most shocking scenes in Stone's "World Trade Centre" Movie is a scene where you watch one of the jumpers falling out of the building.

I suppose that makes sense. Legally if they had indeed jumped they would have been committing suicide, and they family would not have been entitled to any benefits.

I suppose it's also impossible to tell who jumped, and who may have indeed fallen. Seeing as they have quite a range of numbers (50-200) I guess they have no way of knowing for sure.

But I thought the number was closer to 5 or 10 people. Man, what a tough choice to have to make.

Insurance companies are evil if that is the case. When someone is surounded by temperatures hot enough to melt metal, jumping isn't really choosing to take one's life. It is just choosing a less agonizing way to go.

I heard that some of the people wrote good-bye notes and put them in their pockets before they jumped. I wonder how the coroner's office reconciles that.

yep, hot enough to melt metal.

those fires were OUT. they were smoking dark black, fact is most of the kerosene blew up right away. walls / desks / etc. were on fire but it was a cool fire, so much that people were visible in the open wounds of the building:

The one morbid thought I had that day when I saw people jumping/falling from the buildings is that one thing I always wanted to do was skydiving; and if I knew I was about to die I might choose the free fall part anyways. Obviously I can't say for sure because I've never been close to being in that kind of situation.

I also wonder if they had thought of the stories of people who have survived falling from heights higher than that- and figured it was worth a chance.

Maybe. People were hoping for any miracle.

You could even see some people trying to claw the side of the building to try and sort of slide down, probably hoping they could do it. Of course, it was an impossible feat, but I imagine rational thought leaves you pretty quick in those conditions.
