Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. As soon as the ump is waving the play dead (as he's clearly doing long before the run crosses), you can't go back and reverse it.

So are batters coached to leave their bats as close to the plate as possible between pitches just in case?? That is one ridiculous rule that a run can score in a situation like that.
