Yes it has to do with licensing agreements, which are set by the publishers. Libraries are only allowed to lend an ebook to one patron at a time. Also, some people keep the book checked out on their device until it expires (after 21 days or whatever) instead of returning it early - so it takes longer to become available for the next person in line.

Anyway, after that little tangent...I think I'll join this as well, it sounds interesting!

I wonder what it costs for one copy of an ebook for a library. In Edmonton you can request that they purchase a book if they don't have it already, and so far they've bought every book that I have requested. Libraries are actually pretty amazing these days.
Still way behind in line for the October book though...come on already!

I'm not at work right now (I work at a library) so I can't check the actual prices, but we pay around 6 times as much as you would if you bought from Amazon or wherever. Around $80-110 per copy, something like that.

I second this. Wil does a great job on the audiobook. I think I'll listen to it again to prepare for the discussion.

Hey guys, just here to say I'm going to have to bow out for now. I picked up the book and I'm enjoying it, and could rush myself to finish, but the bigger problem is going forward. I don't think I'll have the time. Sorry if I screwed anything up, it looks like you got a bunch of people in though. Happy reading!

		| “The movie won’t have any of my films in it,” the director tells EW in a wide-ranging interview. “I’m not putting myself in this movie.”
The film will still include an odyssey through Gen X nostalgia, but for now he intends to cut the book’s references to the Indiana Jones movies, and works he produced, like Back to the Future and Goonies.

I'm a bit behind. Didn't get as much reading in on the weekend due to family time during Thanksgiving. I'll join in when I finish.

I'm still working my way through Ready Player One I ordered it and I only got it on Friday. I'd be done if not for work and general goings on! Damn work and general goings-on!
Have we picked the next book? Maybe I can order it now so I have enough time to read it.

I'm glad you are here. I was going to ask if Ready Player One was a book that appeals mostly to males (like a Rush concert), and if so, why?

Nominations are open for the next book - no clear favourite yet.

It is October 15 - let's start discussing Ready Player One . . .
