It took people an amazingly long time to find the connection between being unclean and getting sick. Something tells me it was as late as 19'th century.

I guess they blamed illness on witch's, demons, and God.

I grew up in the country... my parents were not sophisticated city folk, so we were taught to bathe a couple times a week and wash yer hands if they were dirty. S'bout it. Didn't know what dental floss was until I was a teenager.

Now, as I grew older I started taking social cues from my peers and catchin' on to what was appropriate behaviour. However, I didn't wash my hands after urinating until I was in my 20s. And I was never sick. Healthy as a horse. I actually believe in the George Carlin's hand-washing theory, however, I wash my hands each and every time now so as to not offend peers.

I remember the old Leno joke:
"A new suvey released today says that 50% of people do not wash their hands after using the bathroom. They have a name for these people. They are called 'men'."

If ever we meet don't be offended if I don't shake your hand.

I blame the entire problem on Philips Norelco for not allowing their body groom product into our country. You can't get it in a store. You can't order it online. It boggles the mind in this day and age that something so trivial is outlawed in a country like ours. I'm going to the States in October and smuggling one back in with me. Who wants in on this deal?

Just a tip. You should wash your hands after using that too. It is funny that you can't buy it in Canada. Just what is the government trying to protect us from?

Speaking of public washrooms. Before a game last season at the dome I had a bit of an emergency. Now it takes me about 1.5 hours to drive to the Dome. I get to the parking lot and my stomach is just rumbling (diarehia). Now I need to walk from the parking lot on the west side of the LRT station to the Dome. It is about an hour before game time so the crowd at the Dome is pretty thin. The walk takes every bit of strength in my body not to crap my pants before I get inside to the bathroom. When I enter the Dome at the west entrance I immediatly head to the right to the first mens bathroom. I pick a stall, check for toilet paper and go to the lock the door. Door wont lock. I go to the next stall, no toilet paper. Go the next stall, no toilet paper and the door won't lock. I finally find a stall with toilet paper and a locking door, but it has no hook for my jersey. So I bundle up my jersey and hover over the toilet. Not a pleasant experience but alot better than the alternative. The thing that ****ed me off was that one hour before game time and some stalls didn't have TP. Which leads me to believe that whoever is responsible for the washrooms obviously didn't bother resupplying the bathroom on the main concourse before 20,000 people show up.
