Wooo, coaches challenge works! Correct call, clear interference.

First coach's challenge ever. I like it. A goal that would have counted was called off (as it should have been). Max 10 coach's challenge seems like a lot but I'm all for whatever gets the call right.

Just tuned in to the Leafs/Canadians game. It seems like the Leafs are doing pretty good but are just getting stopped by Price. Has it been like this the entire game?

Leafs radio guys was whining about how the coach's challenge should have led to a penalty (goaltender interference).

Am I wrong? Or can a penalty not be called as a result of a challenge? I thought it was just goal/no goal

No, Habs hit 2 posts earlier and scored on their first shot of the game.

Incidental contact in this case, but could be called a penalty. It was Incidental for sure

Yes, Leafs have controlled play, but Bernier let in a stinky goal on the first shot of the game.

Is Healy going senile? I think it's getting somewhat amusing when Hughson steadfastly ignores you during the broadcast.

Ah yes, hockey is back! How do I know? Because Glen Healy has already made me roll my eyes! It was a long summer.

He just did a short between-the-whistles bit on the Blackhawks Stanley Cup ring (which could be interesting) but then he has to drag the Leafs into it, and then of course he finishes it off with a not-so-subtle hint that he himself has a Stanley Cup ring. "That's how the way WE wear our jewelry has changed" or something along those lines.

That guy sucks.

With his legitimate connections within the PA and the league office it's a shame he's such an insufferable blowhard.

He could be a good insider, but, he just isn't.

Blackhawks looking sloppy so far. Trevor Daley takes out his own goaltender leading to a 3-1 Rangers lead. I've honestly never understood why people like Daley. He's always been a mistake-prone player with not enough upside to make up for it.

Seems like a lot of distraction with Kane's rape charges. This might effect the Blackhawks more than I originally thought.

Yikes, quite the contact to the head by Mitchell. Didn't look terribly intentional, but very much interference. Might get a fine or a game or two. Who knows what their standard will be this year

Chicago loses its home opener 3-2 to the Rangers in regulation.

The Sharks and Kings are tied 1-1 in the first period. Marty Jones, the former Kings goalie is in net for the Sharks.

The Sharks have a 4-1 lead after two periods and have scored two power play goals.

Dustin Brown levels Couture. Late, to the head, but a North South hit.

Interesting to see what the league does with it. My vote: Mr.Brown sees the press box for 5 games.

Yikes, that was ugly. A headbutt, and he hit upwards, not straight on. Tried to disguise it as a normal hit, but it wasn't at all.

I'd give him 10 games, I hate head shots like that. But he has only been suspended once for a head shot in 2013. So he'll likely get a slap on the wrist.

Lucic is such a baby. Gets hit hard then makes a beeline for Couture.

Should be an awesome rivalry this season though!
