CP Top 50 NHL players poll - Rd 3
With 41% of the votes, the 2nd best player in the NHL as selected by CP was Jonathan Toews. Shout out to whoever voted for Roberto Luongo. One really is the loneliest number when you're that man.
This round, I will begin including an "Other - Write in" option, so you'll have to organize among yourselves to decide when someone like Seguin or Tarasenko gets ranked. Though I must say, I've not heard any objection to the lack of Captain Toomuchrespect Taylor Hall on this list.
The list is made up of the last 50 players to win or be nominated for a major NHL award.
Hart
Art Ross
Norris
Vezina
Calder
Selke
Ted Lindsey
Rocket Richard
Jennings
Conn Smythe
12 goalies
10 defensemen
28 forwards (26 remaining)
CP Top 50 NHL players.
1. Sidney Crosby - 75%
2. Jonathan Toews - 41%

Except Sidney Crosby is a better player. He's everything Toews is, but more skilled.

Unless someone is voting for someone really out there at this point, I don't see how any of the top choices could be considered "laughable".

What separates Toews from Kopitar and Bergeron? And why isn't everyone who voted for Toews now voting for one of those two players to be #3?

Because, contrary to your false premise, they're not the same player?

Yes... Because you know, all Toews does is win. The guy is not overrated. That statement is absolutely ridiculous.

For me Toews was number 2 not only because his cups and NHL success, but because of his Olympic Games success.
When it was a major tournament, with the best players in the world, Toews was the one that took over and stood out.
Clearly the best player on the 2010 Olympic team, and up there on the 2014 Olympic team.

Agreed. I am not saying he's the top player out there (statistically speaking he definitely isn't), but to call him overrated is so far from the truth.

You're right. Kopitar is better.

Cup winning teams have Ellite defensemen so Kieth or Doughty. Went Keith.
If you think of the difference between the elite teams in the league Chicago and LA have elite two way defensemen.
