Monday thoughts...
I were Cleveland I'd offer Manziel to Dallas for a 1st round pick and see if they bite. The ultimate in selling high.
I think the Seahawks will be fine, not sure anyone had a tougher two week opening stretch than they did. Need to work Jimmy Graham in more obviously.
Sam Bradford is an idiot for shutting down extension talks with the Eagles. Has cost himself millions in two weeks. Gotta imagine its a short leash the rest of the year.
No one in the NFL might be in worse shape going forward than the Saints. Bad contracts galore, not much young talent, rapidly declining Drew Brees. They should be looking to blow it up ASAP.

Haha yeah, that's Breaux; the feel-good ex-CFL'er story. That didn't make me feel good..
And yeah the Saints are an absolute mess right now. The only thing I'll add is I think they already are quietly blowing it up. Got rid of Jimmy, Stills, Galette, etc, and have a crazy 25 new players this year, easily the most in the league. Most of those are of the first/second year variety too, not vets. They also quietly drafted the 3rd highest QB this past year in Garrett Grayson.
I still think the end of Brees is being a bit overblown, as just check his #'s last season to see what a "bad" Drew Brees season looks like. But yes he's certainly declining, that right shoulder is clearly causing him problems. I've never seen him so down as he was in the postgame presser yesterday.
I still stand by what I said in the off-season when all those names got shipped out of town: Payton has until the end of next season to get it righted (it won't be), or else he'll be gone (any talk of it happening this year is premature IMO, just based on his history here vs what it was like before him. Ownership is very loyal to him).

It's great to see that NFL teams actually use the preseason to get their teams up to speed and in sync. God what awful football we've seen these first two weeks. There might 4 maybe 5 decent teams to start the year?
Glad the Raiders won, hoping that franchise turns it round. Lots to like there moving forward. Is Woodson really still playing?
I like that Seattle is 0-2. Still a good team but am I the only one that thinks Wilson is way over rated and that his contract is brutal? I have no hate on for them but they are in for a sharp decline with all the contracts coming up for renewal.
The NFC East is so week that Romo's injury probably won't hurt their chances at the div title. If they go 4-4/5-5 whiles hes' out they are probably still a game up.
Eagles...

New England is clearly the class of the AFC.
Denver I think is still a good team. Cincinatti always look like they could be good at the start of the season.
Tonight will provide a bit more info. If the Jets go into Indy and win...than I might have to do a complete 180 on them and admit that this is a good team. Not just a great defence and nothing else.
Overall though, I'm not sure that the AFC is really any worse than the NFC is. The Cardinals have been impressive, but they've also played what look to be 2 of the 5 worst teams in the league thus far. Really you could argue that Denver and New England have beat the toughest teams to be 2-0 so far.

You can see how important home field would be between GB and SEA.
I think DEN is an AFC contender. NE will be tough to beat if they can improve the secondary.

It's crazy how much of a crap shoot the NFL draft really is. Since 2008 the sad sack Chiefs have had two #5 overall picks, a #3 and a #1. The drafted Glenn Dorsey, Tyson Jackson, Eric Berry, and Eric Fisher.
Eric Berry is the only one of the group that even resembles a pro bowl caliber player. Eric Fisher will be out of the league in a year, and the other two are starters, but hardly elite level talents. Given what you have to pay top draft picks out of college...I can see why the NFL draft has not worked in those teams favor. It's like teams would be better off just picking where they want to pick in the draft and claiming that spot. I look at Eric Fishers draft year....Sheldon Richardson is the highest pick who's made the pro bowl at 11.
Eric Fisher, you are a pansy and you suck!!! Why couldn't the Chiefs have been the worst team in the NFL a year earlier....

Funny because I think Dorsey was considered can't miss.

Is it just me, or does the DL seem to be an especially bust-heavy position, in terms of Top 10 selections? So many "can't miss" prospects that miss badly.
In that Dorsey draft, Sean Payton reportedly offered the Chiefs next year's first as well to move up an extra few spots to nab Dorsey. He was rejected, and settled for another DL semi-bust (at least in terms of where he was drafted) in Sedrick Ellis out of USC.

As one longtime scout told me Saturday: “That draft is a disaster—a total riddle. You simply can’t predict how players will do in a different environment. Everyone thought Eric Fisher would be good. Everyone. I thought Jonathan Cooper would be good. Easy pick. There is a randomness to the draft that you can’t explain.”
So in just 28 months, eight of the top 16 picks have raised major questions about their future. That is significantly more than the major questions in the second half of the first round. The last 16 picks, overall, are clearly better than the top 16.

They were fine last night.
41 yds rushing to Lynch is a complete win. 17 pts, 2 sacks, and 320 yds against is a pretty nice outing in this day and age and really good considering the opponent.
Though I will agree that Capers defenses have a tendancy to get picked apart by read-option QB's.

Fisher was such an Andy Reid pick. There were red flags all over him.

Crazy.

There were 3 big trades to kicked off NFL free agency. Five of the 6 teams involved are 0-2. - Saints (0-2) traded Jimmy Graham to Seahawks (0-2)
- Lions (0-2) acquired Haloti Ngata from Ravens (0-2)
- Eagles (0-2) and Rams (1-1) swapped QBs Nick Foles and Sam Bradford

Problem is the highest guys picked in that draft also look bad...
The Andy Reid move was giving Dwayne Bowe money and franchising Brandon Albert to let him walk the next year...to open up a spot for Fisher...who doesn't even want to play in the NFL.

Didn't the Eagles get Lane Johnson at #4 in that draft? I know Joeckle and Jordan haven't been great either but I thought Fisher was at best the #3 tackle in that draft.

This Jets defence looks pretty good. A QB and Running Back away from being a really good team.

Starting to wonder if the Colts issues aren't Andrew Luck related as much as anything else. He just does not look good right now.

Colts look really bad right now. Luck playing average means they have very little chance. Team is not very good around him, when he's on they look good but he's clearly not that right now.

Luck needs to learn to protect the ball, he hasnt had much help but he needs to be much better than this. wonder what excuse Grigson and Irsay will have for the 1st 2 weeks? they better whine to the league about something
