After reading those reviews from CG I am just so excited for this season. I am stunned with the depth that the Flames have, it seemingly came out of nowhere even though we all have been watching it creep along. I guess it's like a flower blooming, all the water and patience and then all of a sudden, whamo, you've got a flower.

I'd be more concerned if this wasn't happening. Kylington could be a tremendous player for us, but this isn't his year. Hoping or expecting him to compete for a spot in the top 6 is setting up for disappointment.
The kid has all the talent in the world, but he is not an NHL player yet, and he's surely not an NHL player on this team.

Interesting changes from this mornings group 2 skate (team playing in Calgary)
Brodie is back with Gio as a pair
Hamilton is skating alongside Wotherspoon

Yep. Every single player in the NHL has probably been dressed down by the coach at some point.
Everyone knows the book on Kylington. He is a tremendously talented player that needs discipline and needs a coach that can leash him. If you give him an inch now, he will take a mile later.
This is a learning year for him .

This is what I wanted to see.
They were great together and the WJCs and maybe that opportunity is the launching pad for him to take a step forward.
Two guys with size and speed - one offensive, and one more defensive

Sureloss/Freeway, or anyone else who may know.
Do you know why Michael Kirkpatrick never received an invite to main camp? I know he wouldn't make the team but it seems odd since he is the only guy with an AHL contract that was not invited to main camp.

My guess is the numbers game. They had close to 70 guys in camp, and having too many bodies might cause folks to get lost in the shuffle.

Fair point re: Poirier. He has had a year in the AHL so I am hoping we start to see some of that in this camp.

That does make sense, especially since I think it is unlikely he sees much time outside of the beautiful Adirondack mountains.

I figured this was as good a place as any to put this:
For those interested in Max Reinhart's (AKA Max Power's) progress. He had an assist and 3 SOG for Nashville in a 3-2 O/T loss to the Florida Panthers last night. A little more than 12 minutes of ice with 3 minutes on the PP.

Also of some slight interest:
The Flyers have signed Phillippe Myers to an NHL ELC.
He was at Flames development camp this past July and was attending the Flyers camp on an ATO.

Dressed for Calgary home game, took part in pre-game skate but didn't take to the ice for puck drop (scratched)
