Photon, I'm going to download Spybot s&d and Windows defender. Is there anything else I should do?
Thanks for the info, everyone.

You almost might want to download the "Brave Sentry" removal tool from here: Link.
hope that helps.

Does anyone know how I can create a table on a php board? It's not for this site and I don't know if it's different for other php boards, but I really need help here.
Thanks!

Most PHP boards won't have a way to create tables, it's too easy to have it screw up and it screw up the whole forum layout.
There are a few that have it, but it's not built in and is usually a hack for the forum software so we won't implement that here.
Best is to just put the info in excel and export it to an image and post the image.

Does anyone have a Windows XP Pro +SP1 cd I could borrow?
I bought a copy of it a while ago, but have since lost the disk. I still have the cd key though because I wrote it on my computer box. I'm looking to reformat the bugger and start all over again, but without the disk I am up **** creek without a paddle.
This is a legit purchased version of windows with a legit purchased cd key, so no funny stuff here. I just need the disk. I think it HAS to be XP Professional with SP1, otherwise my key won't work.
Can anyone help me out?

I'd probably just find a copy on the Internet to download, you're using a legit key so it shouldn't matter. Just make sure it's a retail version you're downloading; non-retail versions usually won't accept the key.

Hm, not sure if there's an image export in Excel. If not, then you could just take a screen shot using the Print Screen button on your keyboard, paste that image into an image editor (Microsoft Paint?) and save it as a GIF from there.

The file doesn't fit in one screen is the biggest issue....

Ah.. well that might be a bit difficult then. Upload the excel file for people to download?

I don't think that will work either... Perhaps I'll break it up a bit and turn it into two files. I'm sure I'll figure it out.

There are print drivers which "print" to images. You click print, and instead of the default printer you pick the miage maker. I'm not sure if there are any free ones, but the software does exist.

Hey guys.
MY hard drive went to crap this past week and I am getting a new one. My last one was IDE and I know my motherboard has SATA hookups. I have been looking at hard drives online and notices there is PATA and SATA types.
I just wanted to know the difference and if anyone knows anywhere online with the best price for hard drives.
Thanks.

PATA = IDE
You're in BC (if I recall) so grab one at NCIX. Wait for a sale (they happen all the time) and grab one.

Ok thanks alot. Some websites are confusing they have IDE, PATA and SATA all listed seperatley.
One more question. Can you have a SATA as you primary HD and then have an IDE and you 2nd?

I'm trying to install a game on my PC. The game itself seems to install ok, but then it says that directx will not install because "MSVCR71.dll was not found and reinstalling the application may fix this problem".
I don't understand this because I've installed other games before and they ran just fine.
Directx diagnosis says it checks out ok.
I did a google search of 'msvcr71.dll' and there are a bunch of hits and places saying 'free download msvcr71' and soforth, but I don't trust them.
Microsoft help and support website search of msvcr71 has a few options listed, none of which match my problem. The closest thing there is "Msvcr71.dll cannot be found" error message when you repair windows XP media center edition. I do not have a media edition nor have I repaired my PC lately.
Can anyone offer some assistance?

I would expect that you can; I can't see why not (note: I haven't tried it).

If you games run fine, then don't worry about it.
It is a C runtilme library. It looks like the latest version can be found in the .Net 1.1 Framework, so if you install (or reinstall) that it might correct the problem.

^^^^ No, the game won't run. Everytime I try to run it, I get a message that says "This application has failed to start because D3DX9_27.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."
I've tried reinstalling the game, no dice. I reinstalled the latest version of DirectX, no dice. I tried numerous things including restarting the computer after reinstalling these things and still...no go.
I looked up this problem on google and it seems to be a fairly common thing, but none of the 'fixes' offered out there are working for me.
Thanks for the response, I'll try your suggestion about C runtime library/.Net 1.1 framework and see what happens.
In the meantime, anyone else have any suggestions?

Just install .Net 1.1 (from here) then come back and let us know if it worked or what problem you now have.
What game is it you are trying to install? It is a legal version, is it not?
Have you tried installing the correct version of DirectX from Microsoft's site?

1. Downloading .Net1.1 right now (I have dialup, so it takes a long time)
2. Yes, it's a legal version. It's Namco Museum arcade classics 50th anniversary.
3. Tried that...didn't help.
