Her name gets trashed just by charges being pressed. In a system where it is innocent until proven guilty it is on her to prove she isn't lying rather than him prove he's not a rapist. Prosecutors will destroy these poor women on the stand and tear apart their entire lives to to provide doubt.
There is also a significant difference between murder and rape cases, it's easier to prove someone killed someone than raped them because in a rape case all things like DNA evidence will prove is if intercourse occurred. In the end every rape case is he said/she said and whoever tells the most convincing story will win.

Getting "trashed" by lawyers or media is overblown these days, back in the day the defense would search your history and if she were under 20 and slept with 3 guys she would be called a slut in open court..today..meh!
Nope the only "trashing" that would work today is if the defense can show a little history of gold digging otherwise it'll just come down to who a judge/jury believes after the evidence is shown.

You're kidding yourself if you think that they won't bring up her sexual history, especially if she has a history of going home with guys she just met. Maybe they won't bluntly call her a slut but they will definitely insinuate it.

of course they're going to deny it. I think if the settles, it'll look really bad. If he try's to say he's innocent after settling no one is going to believe him. If he's innocent, he should be publicly denying everything and refusing to settle. Unfortunately for him, he has a "sketchy" past and people are going to think the worse of him because of it. I don't see this ending well either way.

How so, from Kane's perspective?
It is becoming obvious (to me) that Kane will not be charged.
He will play out his $84M contract.
This will hamper his ability to earn outside of the contract, but he's OK I think.
Patrick Kane will be booed outside of Chicago this season. Then fans will forget, which will relegate Kane back to the same level of dislike they have always had for him. Business as usual.
This is exactly the outcome Patrick Kane wants.

Sorry if this was brought up (I just see talking about court in the last couple pages since this was released)
But Kane is going to camp:
Quote:
The Chicago Blackhawks released their training camp roster on Wednesday. Patrick Kane, currently under investigation for sexual assault in Erie County, NY, is on that roster and will attend camp in South Bend, Ind.

That's the best case scenario in my eyes, and I don't think that's good at all. It may be ok for him though. Sure he'll get booed while playing hockey but what's going to happen to him off the ice? How is he going to be received in bars and clubs when he goes out? Sure, it'll go away eventually but I'm guessing that for a while things are going to suck for him. He's also put a target on his back both on the ice as I'm guessing some guys will "dislike" him even more and in public are some girls going to see him as a potential target for a payday? Eventually, things will most likely go back to the way they were but until then, life is going to be rough.

I think the average person will care far less than you think they will. Especially if he isn't charged and convicted.

Did you report the post? Nope.
Easier to complain about it in the thread while taking a shot at the mods right?
Look - in threads like this I think sometimes it is better to let the conversation flow because that's the only way that the debate progresses. Sometimes the stupid stuff is needed for people to realize why it was stupid.
Deleting eveything sometimes just allows ignorance to continue behind the curtian.
Always a tricky balance.
But do your part and report posts you find offensive and then we can discuss it as a mod group. That's why that functionality exists.

As I said before Ben Roethlisberger faced two separate rape allegations and I've yet to hear him booed in any NFL game. He even served a 6 game suspension though for violating personal conduct policy because of the allegations but I haven't heard of any NFL players targeting him or anyone in public for that matter. I don't think it's going to be nearly as big a deal as you seem to think as sports fans have short memories.
If anyone was listening to 960 Duhatschek was going on about when Doug Gilmour was traded to the Flames due to the Blues wiping their hands of him and his rape allegations. I don't recall anyone in Calgary in particular making a huge deal about it and he's a beloved figure in Toronto still.
Bottom line is that unless these guys are convicted like Mike Tyson most of these allegations slide over time.

Umm Dude, you need to read up on the U.S. rape shield rules, that have been adopted in almost all the states.
Quote:
In the late 1970s and early 1980s, almost all jurisdictions in the United States adopted some form of rape shield statute. The laws in each state differ in the scope of sexual behavior shielded and time limits of the shield. Many states do not permit any evidence relating to the past sexual behavior of the victim. This encompasses evidence of specific instances of the victim's prior or subsequent sexual conduct including opinion evidence or reputation evidence.[4]
|
Basically a victims prior sexual history is viewed as not admissable unless it directly correlates.
Basically she can be the biggest slut in the world, and the court can't allow that to be put in front of the jury, unless her prior history is directly related to the accused.
In other words the accused can be the most promiscuous person in the history of the world, but that past history doesn't matter.
This was bought in because the ability for the defense to personally attack the victim was leading to victims not coming forward.

Mayweather is not far removed from his convictions and he just raked in $180 million and celebrities left and right were supporting him vs Manny.
I'm admittedly not the hugest boxing fan, but I was cheering for Manny purely for the reason that Floyd is a woman abuser. Oh and his worship of money is off putting.

I don't even see what's so offensive about Ressurection's post. Money buys justice in the US. This is not a radical opinion.

Good example. You may not be the average fan but you're a fan and a person none the less. I don't think every person in the world is going to now hate Kane and think bad things about him but there will be more people who think less of him then there were before. Not every fan is even going to care or know about this as some fans are just casual fans who watch the game and don't care about other things. Some fans will think he's scum of the earth and some will just like him a little less.
Again, I'm not saying everyone will think less of him but there will be more people who think less of him then there were before but I guess it doesn't matter.

The girl in the Kobe case had another guys semen and pubic hair in her underwear when she went for her rape examination. Of course they are going to make a deal out of that.
