Backing up computers properly

I have a 2TB External Western Digital that automatically backs up my PC.

Is that good enough according to the CP experts?

I don't really comprehend how OneDrive works on Windows, so I don't use it.

That's my fear - I easily will have double that amount to upload to the cloud. Maybe a second physical backup stored at a different location is best for me. Appreciate the answers tho!
