Could Care Less

What I really love about this, is that this essentially sets the internal salary cap at $6.75M. Johnny and Monny will probably get matching $5.5M or $6M long term contracts.
It feels like Treliving and co are building a Stanley Cup contender.

Giordano agreeing to less than $7M a year another example why he's one of the best leaders in the game. Willing to sacrifice to win. #Flames

"sacrifice"
He's still making more in one year than I'll make in my entire life.

Wow the Flames have Brodie, Hamilton and Gio locked down for the next 5 years at an AAV of 17.15.
That seems pretty damn good.

be better at hockey in your next life then.
Arguments like this are silly. You know what the market is for NHL defensemen. He left lots of money on the table.

I'm aware what NHL players get paid, and I do think it's a team friendly contract. But acting like he "sacrificed" anything is ridiculous.

And have a look at the salary of a Gio equivalent in the NFL or MLB. Like a great shortstop who can hit. Or a great DB.

Very pleased with term and AAV. Gio could of definetly received a lot more on the open market and gave a little bit to remain a flame and help the flames remain competitive.

I'm sure we have a math wizard or two who can break down a front loaded 6.75 AAV over 6 years with the full 50% drop at the end of the term. Do the first three years work out to around 8m a year and drops to about 4 in the final two years?
