So you linked a stat that claims 6.7% to counter a claim that stats show 2-8%. I am not actually sure what point you're trying to make as clearly the vast majority of reports are true and I think we can all agree it is under reported to begin with even if we can agree on what that under reporting number is exactly.

No one ever said it never happens, no one ever said if this one is true of false since we have no way of knowing. It is still disgusting that some people immediately assume she's a gold digger.

Because me (and I'm sure many other people) check the thread assuming it may have been updated with news pertaining to the actual incident. Pages and pages of debate about semantics and "what is rape" and statistics of how many people are making false claims have taken this thread so fair off-rails it has nothing to do with Patrick Kane or hockey any more. Which is what this particular message board is supposed to be for -- many people don't even go into the off topic forum because they want to avoid discussions like this.

A forum is about discussion. If there was a major update you can probably find it on TSN without having to worry about cutting through all the debate.

Unfortunately if there is a news update it will be followed by dozens of posts going off on tangents so any real discussion of the incident will be hard to find. It's a message board so people can discuss what they want. This particular thread isn't helpful to me. I just get mad reading too many of the posts and realize I'm better off staying out of it.

Just for sake of continuity, I would search for this thread here. Yes the borders blend sometimes, but if we moved everything that blended one way or the other over time, the mods would not only have a huge and regrettable job, but users would get confused.

this is easily the nastiest summer on CP that I can recall...seems like most of the active threads the past while are just overflowing with vitriol. I guess right now this is the closest thing to hockey related news that we have, but god I can't wait until the puck drops so that we can just start cheering together and posting silly gifs again.

Probably more to do with the business and political environment in Calgary right now than anything. Lots of controversial topics ATM.

The 'thanks' my posts have received would seem to indicate the general pulse is people agree with me. It's hardly setting a precedent to have a way off-topic thread be moved to the off-topic forum. This is the only thread in 'Fire and Ice' that isn't hockey related. And yes, I think it's fine to expect that moderators would move threads that don't belong in specific sections. That's what they signed up for.

I'm not sure I understand all of the complaints about this thread. The allegations against Kane raised an important issue in our society. It provides an opportunity to discuss our attitudes towards gender and sex. It provides an opportunity to discuss the current state of the law in Canada and perhaps how it can be improved. Perhaps I'm numb to "vitriol", but I haven't seen a lot of it in this thread.
