I'd prefer better passing and dman intelligence so that simple plays like passing straight ahead or picking up a loose puck should be way easier. That way strategy, teamwork and intelligence are the essential elements as opposed to unrealistic errors that change a games direction.

I'm not sure why you seem to struggle with passing so much. I play NHL more than any other game and I've never had an issue with the passing other than the occasional mishap, maybe once every 4-5 games. I think the passing is very well done.

For me the most frustrating aspect this year has been the absence of manual passing, i.e. not being able to 'charge' the pass and having the CPU determine the strength of the passes. Also, it seems more often than not that when two players are close to each other and I go to pass to one of them it goes to the one I don't want it to go to. The one-touch passing mechanic seems to be very selective as well.

It's certainly not game-breaking, but it does cause me enough irritation. Once you get used to the quirks you can anticipate and compensate somewhat, even if it isn't ideal.

i wasn't overly impressed with the video. Looked a lot like NHL15, with subtle changes for sure, but it seems it's a tweaking on top of NHL 15, not really changing anything substantial.

what that means is one won't be able to appreciate the gameplay improvements until the game is actually played.

One thing that i found disappointing was the choice of video to release. Could they not find players who actually play the series and are good at NHL games? It would be much cleaner of a video to show strong players and how the game balance for offense vs defense is. They did themselves a pretty big injustice by showing two rookie players showcasing the gameplay.

The other one that drove me nuts was auto-switching on defense. I finally remembered to turn that off and my defensive game went up in spades.

I suspect this game is going to be about bringing back the lost modes over gameplay upgrades.

If they fix BaP and BaGM I'll consider it. But until I can play in the minors, or start as a 16 year old in Junior, or even set my freaking coaching strategy I won't touch it.

I've pretty much lost interest in the series entirely. I understand iterative changes can be improvements but I still feel like its the same game year after year, not nearly enough changes to make it a new experience. Definitely not going to rush out to get this, might just get EA access and play it (or not) when it comes out later next year. At this point its not even on my gaming radar.

One thing I've always hoped for them to work on is goalies, give them more variety in the way they play, more uniqueness based on who is in net. That would add some different dynamics to goals and situations around the net. But no, just seems to be the same canned animations as before. Probably keep seeing the same diving superman save 10 times per game.

The thing that I am most hopeful will work out is the improved defensive AI.

In real hockey, if one player makes a mistake defensively, teammates will try to accommodate that by covering for him if possible. I agree that if a player makes a mistake, it should have consequences. However in NHL 15, it felt to me like AI teammates were useless defensively.
LOL at the balance video showing Kessel score on the Leafs as a Penguin... approx 40 sec mark.

Haha, nice catch. Obvious intentional dig by the EA guys.

At bestbuy, it's $79.99 for the regular version and $89.99 for the deluxe!?!?!?

WTF, I might just wait it out (1 month after release) instead of pre-ordering the game.

79.99 is the new norm for new game prices this fall (there are a few exceptions). Strength of the CDN dollar.

wow, i couldnt disagree more. not even anything to do with the how i feel about nhl16 but just how terrible the video is. i think someone posted another of his when the first preview came out. all it is is a random fan watching the trailer video in slow mo and talking about what he thinks. i get that he had a preview of the game earlier as a gamechanger participant, but at this point, he has no additional information than you or i watching.

also, he said side strafing like 500 times in the first 3 minutes. so annoying.

I believe his narration of this video would be referred to as his opinion?!?!?

I only subscribed to him recently but he is a video game Youtuber who covers mostly the EA NHL series and because he has over eighteen thousand subscribers, was invited by EA to offer his opinion on how to improve NHL 16. I found myself agreeing with most of what he said so maybe that is why i enjoyed it more then you did, my deepest apologies to you good sir.

my point is that the videos that are worthwhile are the ones that have ea employees showing off new features and explaining why things are or arent in the new version. they tease fans by showing them new features and getting them excited for the release.

whereas this video was just a fan giving his opinion. so my point is that if russic posted a video of himself watching the video and commenting, it ads little to the expectations of the game. and personally i dont care how many subscribers that guy (or russic for that matter!) have. its irrelevant.

and its cool he was part of the gamechanger program. a few years ago jobo was a part of it. but that doesnt make his evaluation of the current video (which was posted 3 days ago by kipper is king) any more educated than us. because he wasn't part of the team that made the final decisions and produced the video. his opinions are purely speculation. what he learned previously is most likely changed. projects like these are fluid for a variety of reasons.

regardless, we've spent way too long talking about the dude instead of the game. i was just surprised that anyone was impressed with his video. after watching the first one a few weeks back, i found him pretty borish.

I couldn't disagree more my friend. I personally would much rather watch an impartial third party give an educated guess as to what is being shown then a EA employee towing the company line. You are right about one thing though, we've wasted our time posting about how you hated someone sharing their opinions and were baffled that another person found enjoyment out of it's content. A critique that I found annoyingly useless to share since it was a video analyzing the content of a game which this thread is based apon, hopefully others felt it was interesting........rage quit!

That was an interesting video... He does have a couple of videos that I haven't seen, most notably the menu and player customization video

And here is a website you can follow where you can ask the devs about it, so any question or concern you have will get answered. They already have answered some good ones concerning EASHL. No player growth, or boosts to buy.

https://www.easports.com/nhl/ask

Game is starting to look pretty slick

Hey EA, how about instead of giving you license to spam me, I just wait and see what the announcement is?
