The additions to the cast in the past season paves the way for more shocking deaths ala Noah, and it wouldn't surprise me to see some turnover of a fan fave or two to keep us on the edge of our seats.

I just hope Rick doesn't go from protagonist to antagonist. I'm loyal to Rick to whatever end.

5 seasons of watching this show by myself.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get my wife to watch this with me? She insists it's too scary, but I feel like she's missing out on some really great television. I'd really like to have her catch up before season 6 starts.

If you can get her to watch episode 1 I can't see how she won't be hooked. The way Rick interacts with the 1/2 torso zombie is still one of my favorite moments. Plus you get to see Morgan react to his zombie wife which was also well done.

I am not a huge fan of horror, gore & whatnot, and I loved this show. My SO convinced me to watch the first season (it's only 5 or 6 episodes), so we did one day. I was fully expecting to hate it but I got hooked.

Yeah, my wife hates horror and scary stuff, but she was hooked after the first episode. It's her favourite show now. Just get her to watch the first episode. Tell her to hide her eyes if she has to during really scary parts. That's what my wife does. She sure is happy she gave it a chance though.

My wife hates violent shows - I can usually get her to accept watching one at any one point in time. So she will watch GOTs and now True Detective. Walking Dead has been a tougher sell.

I finally got my wife to watch with me. Ended up being the episode with the baseball bats and the pig trough. Oops. Still watching it alone.

I want to say Darryl seems to be the one up on the chopping block this year.

if you can get her to give it a try, show her episodes from season 2. there was a ton of snore fest episodes there. especially the 2nd half of the season. not a ton of gore or suspense. maybe you can get a few episodes in to get her emotionally invested in the characters. heck, it should only take about 5 minutes for her to hate carl with a passion. he was a total ###### back then!
for those advocating the first season, its obviously better tv, but to me it would be a bad choice because there was a lot of gore, a lot of suspense, etc.

My wife loved season 1 & 2 I think. She fell out of love with the show at the baseball bat and pig trough episode, and the episode when they ate Bob's leg. That's where she drew the line. She also felt like she was sinning herself during the slaughter inside the church. I can't remember if that was all the same episode or not.
She got back into it and watched Season 5 with me, and kept saying the show is dumb now because everyone just dies off, and they aren't consistent with the law of their zombie universe. Yet she still watches.

This is where my wife started watching with me. Then of course right after the barn scene she said "I knew Sophia would be in the barn."

Get her to just watch the first episode with you. Say you want to re-watch all the episodes before season 6 and if she doesn't like the first episode she probably won't like the show. After watching the first show, she'll want to watch more and more.
My wife started watching it when I did but she stopped after season 2 because she said it was just the same thing over and over. She really didn't like that people would always do something stupid that got themselves or the group in trouble. The main reason she stopped following it is because we watched the first 2 seasons in about a week and then season 3 was on TV and she didn't want to wait for them all. Having all the seasons on hand will make it easier to get her hooked.

People get hung up on the zombie-gore association, but once they realize that the show is all about the people and that the walkers are merely a secondary threat and plot motivator they are won over rather quickly.

My wife has watched every episode with me and loves it. Pig trough and cannibalism and all. Your wives sound like wimps.

My wife didn't watch with me for the first 4.5 seasons.
Then I got her to watch the first episode with me and that was that. It was pretty much a binge watch until we caught up.
