I am a big fan of Kylington but I have a hard time seeing how Kylington would be our next best prospect when the Flames own GM and Scouting staff thought that Andersson would be a better pick just 2 weeks ago.

I think my next guys will be Klimchuk, Hickey and Jankowski. In that order because you can only vote for one at a time
Klimchuks game sounds like something that will work in higher levels of hockey, and I'm putting him before Hickey as defenseman are harder to predict, plus we seem to have little room in our defense right now.
Jankowski is last because despite his intriguing potential he hasn't showed much anything yet outside of highlights.

I'm voting Jankowski until he gets in. I don't watch prospects nearly as much as others here do, but I've liked what I've seen and I think he is building toward a decent NHL career. Others I considered are Klimchuk and Hickey. After that I would go with Granlund, Andersson and Kylington.
Like others have mentioned, I struggle with how to weight ceiling with NHL readiness. I'm probably not even consistent with how I personally weight it from player to player. A lot of 'gut' is going into my selections.

I assume this is a passive aggressive shot at what I said. I should clarify (using the exact words I used initially): "Only Granlund is closer to the NHL but I believe Klimchuk has a much better chance of having a 500+ game career than Granlund."
I wasn't 'calculating' anything. Based on what I've seen with both players, I truly believe this. Granlund is too small (with Gaudreau and Hudler already there) and not skilled enough to be in the top 6. He's too small and not good enough defensively(yet) to be in the bottom 6. Things can change obviously, I'm just not betting on it from what I've seen.
One of Klimchuk's strengths has always been his two way play and defensive acumen. This has been well documented and will serve him well. Granlund has never been talked about his 2 way play being a major strength. In fact, from what I've seen, he's just ok/average defensively. The only reason I even have Granlund in the conversation is because he's proven he can get points in the AHL and he got hot for one month in the NHL (though did literally less than nothing the rest of the time).

keep in mind Smith and McDonald (last year's 2nd rounders) went 18th and 19th, so its interesting to see Andersson and Kylington interest in the top 6. Neither will get in until say 8th at earliest but it is interesting.
Since then both Smith and McDonald have had great post draft years, and you have to th8ink they'll be in the 10-13 range this year.

Same here. Bit of a wildcard, but so much talent and potential. Plus - Hakan Loob said he's gonna be a player - Loob can't be wrong!

19 year old Smith was good last year but he still didn't put up PPG as a 6'7" man amongst boys on a stacked team. I think he will be a 3rd liner at best but more likely a 4th liner who pots 5-10 per year. The only thing that has me legitimately excited about him is his size. I don't think he cracks my top 20 personally.

Tough voting now. Lots of decent prospects to choose from, no real standouts.
I went Jankowski based on his steady progression and development of a high end all-around game. The skills are still there too and will likely translate well to the NHL. I also used yesterday's prospect camp to boost Jankowski ahead of others that were close. Apparently he looks very good compared to the rest.

I voted Granlund, He is a bit of a wild card and although doesnt appear to have a NHL roster spot could develop into a 2nd line player with a nice shot. Its unsure if the other prospects will even develop to where Granlund is now, so he gets my vote.

Guy has been pretty much a point per game AHL player, and a 0.4 ppg player in the NHL (For comparison Backlund is 0.43 for his career).
I like Jankowski but Granlund has proven himself more at this point in time. Especially considering that Granlund is only a year older.

He was a big part of helping his team beat out Mcdavid for the Memorial Cup. Looking at some replays I think he does have the potential to become a 2nd line RW with a scoring touch. That said, it's going to take a couple years in the AHL before he's NHL ready in any capacity.

I feel like since we had such a lack of decent prospects in our pipeline that were quality 2nd to 4th round type guys for so long that we forget that it takes these guys 3-4 years after their draft before they fully put it together.

Looking back at previous prospect appraisals, we've all made plenty of mistakes when staring into the crystal ball. So why not just let people vote as they wish rather than berating them for it?

Just generally it'd be nice if people would stick to commenting on the players instead of other posters.
Let's face it, most of us (like me) are making these choices based on laughably little information anyway.
Takes a lot of the fun of being a fan away if you have to be so damned rational all the time.

To me it's because of his potential. Every other team passed on him but it doesn't mean that he isn't good, just that there's a risk there. I think Andersson was a safer pick but I think Kylington has a higher potential. I honestly think that the Flames management and coaching staff are going to be able to mould him into the player he can be.

I have Hickey, Jankowski, and Klimcuk all interchangeable for my next picks. Kylington also just a little bit behind them also in the mix.
I'm actually having problems placing and ranking the players. After every poll I pretty much say "yeah I can get behind that".

I went with Granlund, he has proven he can play at the pro level and has a legit shot at being a full time NHLer. If I was going off of potential though then Kylington would have been my pick. A good meet you half way pick is Klimchuk.
