Default Most Exciting Trades in Flames History?

Okay reading the thread about the worst trades in Flames history made me pretty sad.

How about any trades in Flames History that was amazing?

The most recent one that comes to mind obviously is acquiring Hamilton. We also got pretty good returns for Reto Berra and Glencross, by far not the best trade in history but the return did surprise me.

One of my all time favorites has gotta be Miikka Kiprusoff for a 2nd round pick (which turned out to be Matt Carle correct?).

I thought the pick for kipper ended up getting them Vlasic?

October 1, 2002, Drury and Stephane Yelle were traded to the Calgary Flames in exchange for Derek Morris, Dean McAmmond and Jeff Shantz.

Colarado traded Tanguay's negotiating rights to the Calgary Flames at the 2006 NHL Entry Draft in exchange for defenceman Jordan Leopold and two second round draft picks.

These were the two where I remember getting really excited for hockey to start. Then they put Drury on the point of the power play... lol

1986: Beers, Bourgeois, Cavallini to St. Louis for Joey Mullen and some throw-ins. That trade turned the Flames into a contender overnight.

1988: Mike Bullard for Doug Gilmour and Mark Hunter. Turned the team from a contender into a favourite.

The trade for Jokinen was pretty exciting when it happened. Felt like we hit a homerun.

Especially after his first game with Cammalleri and Iggy vs Philly.

More than just negotiation rights. It was a trade, Tangs was RFA.

The Dougie Hamilton trade jumps to mind.

I as pretty jacked about the Jaybo trade when it happened.

I was at the dome when we traded Bourque to Montreal for Cammalleri - the dome was pretty electric.

The other trade I was really excited/happy about was when we traded to get Conroy back from LA.

Picking up a 26 year old Tanguaynfrom the Avs fornLeopold and a 2nd. The Nucks just snagged Luongo and we answered back addressing our biggest need getting a ppg player to play with Iggy

The 2009 trade deadline getting Jokinen and Leopold adding to a team that was bordering on elite.

I think the Hamilton trade is the tops for me. I feel like Treliving just fleeced the Bruins. Where this team is in the rebuilding process we got the exact player we needed. We also beat out Edmonton for his services as well

Risebrough and a 2nd (Musil) for a 2nd and 3rd

Mike Bullard for Dan Quinn.

Tonelli for Konroyd and Krom

At the time the Bouwmeester trade was a coupé. Leopold and a 3rd.

Wasn't there for those last century trades. Don't recall being that excited over Jokinen or Bouwmeester.

So yeah, Hamilton trade for me. Seems such a perfect fit to a team that was already really exciting to follow.

The city of Atlanta trades the Flames franchise to the city of Calgary for future considerations.

most recently the Hamilton trade because he has the potential to become a franchise D that teams covet and we've needed.

I'm going to say the Iggy trade though. Not because we got a good return because it wasn't that good but because it was the start of the much needed rebuild. It let Flames fans lower their expectations of always winning and let us just enjoy hockey.

If we are talking about at the time

Bouw and Dougie for sure.

Both appear(ed) to be highway robberies.

Jokinen was huge at the time... Tanguay and Drury were also exciting. I think the Hamilton trade may be the most impactful since the Kipper trade though

Bouw was exciting but when we made that move I knew Cammys days with the Flames were over which was a tough pill to swallow

I was pretty relieved when we traded Bouwmeester. Not because the return was anything special. But finally, ownership was stopping the madness and letting us rebuild.

I think both Bouw trades. I thought it was awesome when we got him and I was also very excited when we traded him away. Regardless of what we had to give up to get him or what we got in return.

I just didn't like his game and he was the most boring person ever!

I have to say Dougie Hamilton is the most exciting in recent years, the season can't start soon enough.
