I am curious to see him play. I was hoping he might crack the lineup for the WJCs but I don't think he was invited to their summer camp was he?
Still amazed that Kylington wasn't

That Swedish summer camp was only 24 guys...unless they are setting their final roster now, I would think there are plenty of opportunities for others to make the team.

@SUNGilbertson: #Flames have announced development camp roster — 20 forwards, 18 defencemen and 4 goalies. Scrimmage set for Tuesday, 9:30 am at Winsport.

Wes Gilbertson @SUNGilbertson
For those wondering, #Flames C Sam Bennett is attending development camp. Others with NHL experience are Emile Poirier and Brett Kulak.
Wes Gilbertson @SUNGilbertson
The list of non-roster invitees to #Flames development camp includes LW Mason Marchment, whose father Bryan was longtime NHL defenceman.

Mason Marchment had a bit of a late growth spurt.
Quote:
“Absolutely it is,” agrees Erie head coach Kris Knoblauch of how rare it is that a 19-year-old free agent makes an OHL team, especially one as highly regarded as the Otters. “He’s a late bloomer. I think he could have played in a few places and he chose us. It was a good opportunity for him with the amount of players we lost off last year’s team. We’re certainly happy to have him with our team.”

DeBlouw is attending this year after missing last year's. Tim Harrison is not attending this year. I guess he has too many mini-bikes.
It looks like Harrison and Rafikov are the only eligible draft picks not attending.

Who's going there to chant Bennett's name when he hits the ice?

Yeah also in pretty stoked that bennett is going. He'll probably have a great attitude about it too unlike some others in the past.

Also a reminder, July 6th is just medicals and not open to the public. If you go on monday you will not see anything.
All on-ice sessions are open to the public.

Looking forward to updates about Jankowski and Klimchuk, who did not participate last year IIRC. Also Big Rig Smith now that he's going to turn pro.
Also very interested in how Kylington does in his first NHL camp -- if he is an elite level skater you'd think it would show in a setting like this. I'm guessing first NHL camps for Kenney Morrison (who has Gaudreau's old #53) and Jakub Nakladal as well.
P.S. Surprised to see Ryan Culkin attend -- is he recovered from that nasty wrist injury?

IIRC, near the end of the season, Treliving said that he was starting to practice and was targeting a return for the AHL playoffs if Adirondack had qualified. He also came to Calgary as a Black Ace during the playoffs.
Returning in April/May would have been a very quick return for him and he wouldn't have been 100%, but it's also been another 3 months since then, so he should be good to go.

I was driving hwy 22 on the way to Idaho last week and as they were wrapping up the seventh round it was noted on 960 that the flames were still at the table going over their list and preparing invites to the development camp.
Looks like they've done their homework and have a few undrafted players from the 2015 class. Hope they find another gem that they can pick next year or keep tabs on so they can sign them as a ufa. Seems like a decent crop, let's see how they develop.

They have streamed the scrimmages for the past 2 years.
I don't believe they archive them.

Any word on why Harrison isn't attending?
