Good place as any for him to get going while being insulated from his poor defensive play.

Well, hey, Ribeiro worked. Reclamation central, the Preds are.

His stock has fallen, but Buffalo was such a gong show that I wouldn't be surprised to see him get back to 15 goals and 40 points. Good low risk, high reward signing to have him for one season at 1 million.

This is likely his last shot, its not a bad risk for the Preds, I think Hodgson still has some ability, but he mentally checked out on that awful Sabres team, if the Preds get him to buy-in he could be a good pickup and potentially save his career.

Last chance? I don't think so. Young guys who can be top 2 line centres get lots of chances.

Agreed. Given the city to city cost of taxes table TSN put up, I'm wondering if he just went to the team that maximized his earnings, and also maybe giving him a better chance at getting a large contract in the future.

I agree on that, but really? 1 year, $1M is typically 'put-up or shut-up/Last Chance Saloon' type stuff.
Hes setting himself up for his best shot but if he fails hes in trouble.

Good low risk move for the Preds and they could use an offensive forward.

The problem I've seen with Hodgson is his competitive nature. I think that's passed him by, primarily because of his back injury. He's looked like he just doesn't want to get injured and so he doesn't play his hardest. A one year deal is pretty risk free for Nashville, but I don't think Hodgson ever recovers that competitive nature. Sure he'll get another chance after this contract, but at a certain point his potential doesn't transpire.

Sounds like Cody Hodgson has retired and will work with Preds youth hockey.

The Predators announce that Cody Hodgson will assume a role with their youth hockey program.

He had one good year with the Sabres. He's just not NHL material, so I'm glad he found something else

Yeah, this obsession with bumping old threads has to stop somewhere.
Someone should bump the thread of Gaudreau signing two years ago with some marginally related news, just for fun.

He was a good player. Played an amazing world juniors. I think his back problems certainly hurt him. He really felt like the Canucks doctor's made it worse.
