Bring it on. The way the Avs like to negotiate there's a good chance Mackinnon's next deal will go past July 1st. If they want to make a game of this they better be prepared as Burke isn't a guy that's going to lie down and let it go.

Good lord, the amount of panic around here about an offer sheet is ridiculous. From what we've all heard, Dougie wants to be here, so let's give it more the 2 days before we start to panic, Teams can't just offer sheet a player without the player accepting.

I'm sure when the trade for Hamilton was made there were discussions had in the Flames front office that addressed the possibility of an offer sheet from another team. It's a calculated risk and I'm sure they have a number in their head that they are willing to match and anything above that just means they get compensatory picks.

Wouldnt blame them, we started it lol but think it will be a mute point, he will be signe before July 1st. Plus Avalanche do not spend max cap, they are cheap, so dont see it

I think he wants to be here. A guy has to sign an offer sheet for it to get reported. Who knows how many offer sheets get thrown out every year that players simply don't sign

For an offer sheet to work, you have to have a team in cap trouble, or a team that thinks the contract isn't worth it.
Flames have plenty of cap room.
Hamilton is worth 7.3 (IMO), anything less than that and it would get IMMEDIATELY matched.
So even if the Flames didn't match, any offer over 7.3 means we are walking away with 2 firsts, a second and a third, which is more than what we had yesterday. Anything over 9 mill and you can have him, I'll take your 4 1st rounders.
So no. I'm not worried at all.

I had a good chuckle when it said Hiller was due for a big raise next year.

further to that the total compensation is divided by 5 to get offer sheet compensation so even if he was offered 7yrs X6.5 million = (which i think everyone agrees he's probably worth) the amount for offer sheet compensation would be 9.1 million so 4 firsts
When a player accepts an offer sheet and his team declines to match the value of the contract, his former team is entitled to draft pick compensation in the next upcoming draft or drafts based on the averaged yearly salary of the contract. This averaged annual salary is determined by dividing the total compensation by the lesser of the number of years of the Offer Sheet or five years (the latter clause has potentially come into play with one offer sheet---offered to Shea Weber in the 2012 offseason)

Not worried at all. I was looking at last years comp when I posted in the another thread, but anything with AAV of 7.3 or under will be matched. Anything over will net the flames 2 firsts, a second and a third (or 4 firsts if a GM gets crazy). Hamilton will not be signing a two year deal like ROR did so (Hamilton has to agree and sign the offer sheet). Since he would be wanting term that is to the Flames advantage because any offer sheet is divided by 5 to figure out the comp (so a team can't offer 6 or 7 to lower the AAV).
Even Hamilton leaves, at worst this is assest management where a first and two 2nds were turned to two 1st, a 2nd, and a 3rd or 4 1sts.

I have no doubt Flames will sign him, but I wonder if the final amount puts pressure on Gio's deal.

Anything up to 7.3 mil I'm sure will match and anything above that I'm not sure many teams have two 1st round picks in 2016 that can even put in an offer.
So no relax do you even dougie bro?
