Kansas City remains very interested in becoming an
# NHL city, told relocation is more likely than expansion.
This is where Phoenix ends up I bet. My bold predicitons:
Expansion: Vegas and Seattle.
Relocation: Phoenix -> KC Florida -> Quebec
Kansas City will go to the central, and the 2 new expansion teams will be in the Pacific.

Chris Johnston @reporterchris
Gary Bettman told the NHL board about interest from ownership groups from Las Vegas, Seattle and Quebec City. There's your big three.

- accept formal applications, go thru vetting process, determine whether there is interest in committing to expansion.
- Early July applications, one month more or less window to see what comes in. Exec committee will review the applicants.
- Application will start as early as beginning of July.
- A Variety of bids include Quebec City, Las Vegas, Seattle.
- The Season Ticket Holders for Las Vegas are groupings of 8 people or less. No casino coperations.
- Commissioner says no guarantee of expansion.

All three being awesome destinations to expand to.
Seattle, especially, would be an amazing addition to the NHL roster.

Didn't he just tell Scott Oake on national television two weeks ago that the NHL has given no thought to expansion?

Kind of feel like long term they end up in Seattle, Las Vegas, Toronto V2, and Quebec City.
Expand to Las Vegas and Toronto V2 (this Toronto team in the Western conference brings a variety of opposition into the city).
Phoenix franchise is sold to Seattle group, and Florida move to Quebec City.

I strongly disagree.
IMO, the overall talent level and depth of NHL rosters is higher today than at any time that I have witnessed, save only the original 6 era.
From a purely statistical point of view, the last expansion was 2001, rising from 28 to 30 teams. So that is a 7.1% increase, over 16 years. Or 0.43% per year.
That is substantially less than simple population growth.
So how can that be construed as watering down?

The Devils relocate to Kansas City to where it all began and become the Scouts.

@reporterchris - The NHL remains extremely committed to keeping the #coyotes in Arizona. Downtown Phoenix is seen as a potential long-term solution.
Only way the Yotes survive here long term.
