Russian factor does play a part in his draft stock. If he was anything else, top 5-10 talent. More a Kuznetsov than a Yakupov. Actually, in the few youtube videos out there on him, has a very Maklin esque style of play.

Maybe the fact that the draft is so deep and there are so many quality players will leave teams thinking: why risk it on a Russian when we can get a great prospect anyway?

Having said that, even if he doesn't go in the 1st, 45th overall is a long way down.
