It's never over until it's over, but that's a pretty deeply planted dagger.

Weak game 7. No drama at all. Oh well, at least kesler remains a lose.

Anything else interesting on tonight?

I still don't see how that can count and am wondering how obvious a distinct kicking motion needs to be. The skate of Hossa was moving towards the net and caused the puck to change directions 180 degrees, is that not what a kick is? I would be so mad right now if that call went against the Flames.

I think the Toronto war room was all like, do we really want Anaheim in a final against Tampa? Hells no count that goal and finish them!

Fowler got unlucky with the puck hitting the linesman. The officials are part of the play and need to be avoided but it was a fluke play similar to breaking a stick. The real goat was Andersen, who instead of covering the puck poked it right at Hossa.

That technically should be a penalty shot call.

You can direct it if you don't kick.

His skate never left the ice. A bending of the knee or a swinging of the leg IMO is a distinct kicking motion. Hossa's goal was a subtle ankle twist, he for sure directed it in with his skate, but that is okay.

Under the new standard they're using this season, basically, if the player's skate stays in contact with the ice throughout the play (or close enough that you can't say for sure it's not in contact), it will be called a good goal.

The only ones I've seen called off are when the player lifts his skate off the ice and kicks it forward.

Shame the league gave Hossa that kick in goal as the 3rd period would have more drama.

It wasn't a kick and The refs try and add enough drama with some of their calls, we don't need Toronto blowing calls to make games more interesting too.
