Wow, 187lbs for a 6'3" d-man. that's like paperweight in the NHL! I think Gaudreau can make a check on this guy and flatten him into the boards!

I'm sure he'll gain some weight after landing in Philly and making those cheese steaks his staple diet.

Yeah, the notion of a skinny Medvedev just blows my mind. Medvedev is the talented fat Russian kid who played goal in the World Juniors....sadly enough he too is probably not far off 32 anymore...which makes me really old.

I'd like Manning... But it would take a lot to pry him out of Philly I suspect

He turned 32 in April. Strange how, in my head, he was much younger than me when he was drafted, but now we're pretty much the same age.

Fetisov was 31 when he joined the NHL. Don't sleep on a Russian over 30 who actually wants to be over here.

I could see Nicklas Grossman making his way onto the Flames roster somehow this off season, especially with Smid possibly being done.
Bigger, more mobile version of Smid.

Have you watched him recently? He's horrible. Philly fans can't wait for him to be gone.

we should throw whatever we can at Philly to get Gudas. They got him from tampa and he hasn't played there so maybe they wouldn't miss him too much. They'd probably never trade him but a guy can dream....he's exactly what this team needs.

I think he was injured, that's why he didn't play much. Philly will likely keep him because he's cheap and better than almost their entire current defense, which is amongst the very worst in the league. On Calgary, he'd be lucky to be our 5/6. I'm thinking if Treliving adds a Dman, it's a player who would be in the realm of Russell/Wideman rather than Engelland/Smid.

Adding a player like Russell or Wideman at this point would be a mistake. We have enough puck moving guys who are smaller and fast, this team needs a bigger guy or someone with a big physical presence to handle the bigger guys we see in the west. One of the reasons the ducks beat the Flames is because they're bigger and the Flames were just physically outmatched. Gudas probably won't be moved for a while (if ever) because he brings that presence, he'd be an ideal 5-6 guy (or maybe 3-4 depending on chemistry) and a PK specialist...that's what we need. The Flames D put up lots of points, now they need size.

I didn't mean their exact style, I meant their level of quality overall. Russell and Wideman are legit top 4 guys. Gudas is closer to Engelland than he is a legit top 4 (on a good team anyway). I agree the defense could use a bigger two way presence but I don't think Gudas is that guy. Besides Philly already has 4 or 5 guys they would want to clear out before Gudas, their D is truly terrible. I think he's a player who probably has a lot more value to them than what his actual trade value is. They are pressed up against the cap as well, so that's another reason I can't see them even entertaining a trade for him unless someone over pays or takes someone like MacDonald as a sweetener.
