Resting star players is par for the course, especially when you leaned on the heavily to get in before playoffs.

Anaheim F/O % in order: 38, 50, 33, 56, N/A (last game stats unavailable) Vancouver was 25, 41, 43, 55, 37, 50. His playoff avg F/O % was 41.4%. This is not a great number obviously. But look who he has been facing off against: Getzlaf% 51.4, Kesler 63.7, HSedin 50.4.

These are all guys who are known to be excellent centers. Monahan's regular season % was around 49%. Over an 11 game span when you are being studied and targeted, I don't think it's crazy to have your % drop by 8 or so points even uninjured. Like I said, I think he was a little rattled being the 1C as a 20 year old.

Again, to me his shot didn't look any weaker. Remember when he rang it off the post?

Again, he was probably bumped and bruised. He wasn't the only guy turning away from checks.

I guess you make a point for 5). But still it's circumstantial.

Staying away from the scrum after Backlund's OT winner is a pretty telling.

It's May 12th. Best thing about today is that it is May 12th, not April 8th. May freaking 12th.

CroFlames: I agree that his shot looked better in the last couple games - as did his play. But he hardly had any shot at all in the Van series.

It looked to me like he was getting better as the playoffs went on, but was still far from healthy.

And there were lots of whiffle balls thrown at the net in the Ducks series. Some hard shots too, but mostly weak wristers

You have some weird clingy issues man.

These dudes have families, they are allowed to spend time away from the team...

I will be really interested to hear if Monahan was hurt.

In my opinion he hurt his shoulder, most likely Regher during that game against the Kings just before the season ended.

When he grabbed his mouth guard he got a whiff of his breath and decided that nobody wanted to smell his breath?

@Fan960Steinberg: Locker clean out for the #Flames today. Interested to see what injury news filters out over the next few hours. Lots of coverage to come.

Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
Ferland says he tore his oblique in game 4 against Vancouver. No surgery needed. #Flames

Eric Francis @EricFrancis
Micheal Ferland just revealed he tore his oblique Game 4 vs Vcr on hit by Hamhuis.

Eric Francis @EricFrancis
Ferland was freezing torn oblique to numb pain and it was aggravated every hit he made until he simply needed to take 2 games off vs Ana

Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
Ferland said the injury affected him most when he was throwing a hit. Really got bad in game 1 vs. Anaheim. #Flames

IMO it's pretty ballsy to play through a torn oblique with Ferland's style of play. Warrior...

Glad it's not a concussion. It did seem like Ferland wasn't as physical in Game 5 vs. Anaheim. Makes sense why now.

So, that epic game 6 performance he turned in he was already playing with a torn oblique?!

The legend grows.

Aaron Vickers @AAVickers
Bennett reports bumps and bruises, but nothing major. "My shoulder's never felt so good." #Flames
