Its possible that the Flames knew he'd be out until at least the playoffs so they decided to say he's done for the season when he was really only going to be out for the early rounds?

Throw everyone off.

I love how things turned around
Setoguchi, McGrattan, Glencross, and Raymond were all on that roster. There was a bit of a ****storm on CP in October from the "play the kids!" posters upset about all the vets hogging roster spots vs the "shield the kids from the losing / make them earn it" posters.

I think his body being in incredible shape is just helping him heal faster. I think there was a poster or two who said they had identical injuries, and the timeline was not exaggerated by any stretch.

We are just lucky Gio is progressing. Who knows if he'll be back though.

To be fair, I think that a few posters saying that (at the time) expected that if play was poor, at least the kids are growing/learning vs a vet on a down swing. Playing kids makes sense in a rebuild for experience (can't just buy it) and learning standpoint.

This time, we are drooling because they are good choice players to have on roster.

The conflicting news around Giordano is a bit puzzling. All of the reports from the Fan 960 yesterday and this morning indicated that he is not even close to returning. Yesterday Hartley called all of the Flames injuries "day-to-day" with the exception of Gio, which he called "long term". Yet there he is, taking contact at practice.

The team is really trying to downplay any potential return of Giordano but I can't help but feel like we haven't seen the last of him.

Boudreau might be adding a bit more speed and skill to their lineup.

Fleischmann and Sekac look like they are drawing in the Ducks practice at Banff.

Palmeri and Etem would be scratched if they draw in.

I imagine if there is even a slim possibility that Gio might play, Hartley wants to keep it as close to the chest as possible.

If Giordano ever plays, we won't know until he steps on the ice at game time. If there was ever a secret weapon that could make a difference if kept a surprise, it's Gio.

Derek Wills @Fan960Wills
I just asked #Flames Captain Mark Giordano if there is any chance he will play in series vs. #Ducks. He said "I don't think so".

I think sometimes the gamesmanship becomes more a thing about tradition and less a thing of tactics or strategy.

The Ducks are big and good. I'm sure they're interested if Bouma is going to play but what are they going to do differently today if he's in or out? Not a helluva lot.

Giordano though does change things so keeping them guessing on that I think is smart. Wonder if they have it backwards though ... they should be hinting in and not have him play and have them wasting their time preparing for a guy they know can't play.

Wes Gilbertson @SUNGilbertson
#Flames LW Lance Bouma repeated several times today that he is "day-to-day." Couldn't wipe the smile off his face, though.

Bouma definitely deserves playoff hockey. When was he injured again?

Along with finding out who played thru injuries during the playoffs, I'm equally curious what Bouma's injury was.
