I was looking at a map of La Ronge, Saskatchewan and they have a 'Backlund Ave' and 'Poirier St'.
So... maybe we should be looking at street names there for who the Flames might pick in the draft?

ISS top 30 for May is out now:
http://www.isshockey.com/iss-hockey-...op-30-for-may/
Kylington doesn't make their top 30.
Overrating Crouse at 4.
Quote:
This month’s release outline an unchanged pattern in the top three rankings of the ISS Top 30. With one more final release to go, Connor McDavid, Jack Eichel and Dylan Strome are locked into their respective top three rankings for May. Colin White is one of the biggest movers, jumping 8 spots from #23 to #15 by helping lead Team USA to Gold at the World Under-18 Championship.
“White had a slow start to the season, but finished strong with the USA NTDP”, says ISS Hockey Director of Scouting Dennis MacInnis. “He has a dominating two-way game with elite level of hockey IQ, as his anticipation, awareness and offensive skill-set are off the charts.”

Can't teach size I guess. I wouldn't mind picking him at 15 if he was there, but it'll suck for a team picking him in the top 10. Plenty of safer options to pick.

If a team wants a big winger, I think Rantanen is a better pick in the top 10 than Crouse. Even Ritchie last year was a better prospect and he didn't get picked till 10th overall in a weaker draft.

I hope the Flames pick Kylington at 30.

Crouse is still a good prospect and if he's there at 15 we'd be lucky to get him.
As for Kylington, I still hope we find a way to get him and I really think he has a bright future.

Definitely, I would love Rantanen. Too bad he had risen his stock significantly .

That looks like a pretty good list. Crouse seems a bit high for me as well. No idea where Zacha ends up, seems like a real wild card.
It seems like the ISS might place a little too much emphasis on the U-18's though. The US generally dominate, given their development program, so I wonder if they overvalue the US kids. Does White really have that much offensive talent? He might be there when the Flames pick.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

White was pretty highly thought of back in September. He was projected to be a top 10 pick by some at the time.

I wouldn't mind if Crouse "fell" to us. Seems like he could become much like Lucic.

If Matthew Barzal somehow fell out of the top ten to us at 15, I'd be so happy.

What makes you so sure we are drafting 15th?

Lucic had 21 fights in his draft year. Crouse had 4. Not at all the same type of player, the comparisons don't go beyond their height.

Flames already have a lucic type in Ferland. Flames need a few other things. Not sold on Crouse meeting the criteria I am posting below.
Big Skilled shooters, Like Boeser, Korostelev, Svechnikov. Yeah yeah, Russian factor blah blah on the last two I named but I'll be damned if they don't address a need we are seeing in this current playoff series against the Ducks.
Or Big D men who can skate and have good IceQ as Button calls it.

There is a good chance that we don't pick at 15...if we make a bit of a later pick, do you think there is a chance we get Brandon Carlo? That kid looks like exactly what we need. I really hope they go heavy on D in this draft.

Typically guys like that are rated later, but go earlier because teams prefer size. I'd be somewhat surprised if he was on the board if we pick at 15, let alone at 27-30.

I love how wide open these ratings have been. Seeing high end stock rising and falling, to me, means that there is a ton of really diverse talent that each make a solid case for a top end selection depending on organizational preference. Originally I was praying we found a way to make a couple moves, getting a top 5ish pick as well as two more mid first rounders from combinations of our top 6 selections, almost any of our prospects, and roster players who has obvious value to many teams and could be replaced by younger renditions with higher ceilings by said picks (Backlund, Wideman, Granlund, Hiller, Max R, being a few). Now I'm reminded of the way legends are born in playoffs, and basically the entire roster has shown us wed be losing something that could take years to replace/recreate by senselessly dumping players to move up in the draft. Figuring we were out of the top of the first round for quite a while has me far less interested in prospects than j had been the last two seasons, but now I'm seeing groups of players in different tiers that all fill a need, and projections showing we may often have our choice of a few. Unless our scouts have a guy they feel they absolutely can't afford to miss, or Stevie Y realizes dragging his feet on a Drouin/Cammi swap really set the Bolts back but nowhere near as bad as missing a shot to snag Granlund&Diaz for Hedman would.. I hope we make the picks and trust Brads judgement

There was an article about him in a Dutch newspaper today.
To be honest, I had never heard of him before.
I Googled him and I read about his off ice issues in this thread.
Do you guys think he's high on the Flames scouting lists?
On one hand it would be so cool to have a Dutch Flames player, on the other hand I don't want this to be reason that the Flames draw attention overhere... I kind of want to keep my (almost) exclusive Dutch Flames fan rights

One of the Flames scouts owns the Charlottetown Islanders, which is Sprong's team. The Flames 2nd round pick from last year, Mason MacDonald, is also their goalie. The fact that Sprong is a right shooting right winger, one of the very few in the first round, and that they are more familiar with him than any other team in the NHL it would not shock me if they picked him. Actually, it would tell you a lot about what the Flames think of him if they don't select him considering he has the most raw skill of anyone ranked outside the top 12 and he perfectly fits the only need the Flames have in the forward ranks.
