Nashville did the same thing, they would get invaded by Hawks fans if they didn't. With so many transplants in Florida I can see the reasoning, and since they're selling out there's no reason they can't be picky

Not a tough crowd, just a poor joke. TB has consistenly filled that rink to near capacity for more than a decade.

Fonz you are bringing down my mood man. Just let a guy make bad jokes on game day.

Also, I got no problem with Tbay selling tickets to Florida residents only. You gotta do what you gotta do for your club. If I was a Tbay fan, I'd be pissed to have 15,000 Hab fans at my own rink.

Meh. As much as I'd love to see the Dome without nucks or oilers jerseys I'd still be upset if the Flames tried to pull that.

I guess it depends. If they can still sell out by limiting tickets, then it doesn't matter. If they are doing it at the expense of revenue, then I would think the NHLPA would have a gripe since salaries are tied to revenue through escrow.

I wonder if you'd change your tune if we ever had to play the Canadiens in the playoffs and suddenly saw half the dome start rooting for the road team. It's demoralizing for the home fans and the players themselves when they get outnumbered in their own building. I'd have no issues if the Flames ever decided to make sure that Calgary area residents had first crack at tickets

You won't find many places in Detroit that aren't actively on fire. Maybe she was just homesick?

Financially no it doesn't matter, but as a sports fan who enjoys going to other cities to catch various games, I find it bush league.

See my original post about Canucks fans. No, I wouldn't change my tune.

Slippery slope I guess. If I were to re-sell tickets I would attempt to avoid selling to an opposing fan. But I don't think it should be done at the corporate (NHL/Ticketmaster) level.

I actually have no idea what the deal is in Tampa right now, but just making this comment because it's my pet peeve. Hate when the viability of market conversations focus only on attendance.........cost of tickets has to be part of it as well.

18K paying $10 a ticket is no the same for example as 18K paying $90 a ticket. The reason it bugs me is because people are very quick to look at Canadian markets, like even here in Calgary last and this year and start to question when the building is no longer sold out. Yet the team is still drawing 18K fans paying full pop for tickets, which is not the same thing as when a Sun Belt team is a legit cup contender and sells out their building night in night out, but still has ticket prices sol low that you'd never see in market like Calgary. Not apples to apples.

For the record, I realize you weren't suggesting any of things I said in your post, it just spring boarded my comments

Not only are those jokes annoying and uninspired, but it takes all of one minute to find out that not only is Tampa one of the league's better draws, but that last night's game was sold out.

Edit: and congratulations on completely derailing the thread.
