There is an airport in Orange County close to Honda Center approx. 25 minutes away named John Wayne Airport. WestJet used to fly directly from Calgary or it might be seasonal.
You can also fly into LAX which would be 50+ minutes from Honda Center but there are more options for flights and it might be cheaper.
I am not sure if JumpOn would do a flight for southern California given most of their aircraft are idle for the energy industry. With a flight time of 3 hours or so I doubt it would be a same day trip.
The Honda Center and the southern California lifestyle do make a roadtrip worth it though

Assuming the only (feasable) way to get there would be a rental car?

The plane passengers should rent a bus! There's hotels walking distance to Honda Center too, since it's so close to Disney.

An idea we had is to fly to Palm Springs which is a pretty cheap direct WJ flight, play some golf, then drive to Anaheim. It's about an hour and a half drive.

It's about the same. 90ish miles. Looks like Palm Springs or San Diego would be as low as $400 round-trip depending on the days with WestJet. Looking more like $500 for Santa Ana with Air Canada/United through Vancouver, Denver, San Francisco, whichever.

Not to put the cart before the horse. But tickets in Anaheim are surprisingly expensive. Have to account for the feeble canadian dollar.
Tickets will be much more available though, easier to get 2-4 seats together.

In my opinion a rental car would be the best option for return transportation and getting around the area as it gives you lots of flexibility to do whatever you want when you want.
This being said another method that might work might be setting up an Uber account. In case your not familiar its a ride sharing app that allows people to hire priavte drivers for transportation. The cost vs a taxi is probably much lower and if your only looking for a few rides than it might be worth it.
The car rental taxes coming out of LAX can be crazy high but the cost of the daily rental can be had for as low as $15 I have had. You will have to do a little cost benefit analysis if you decide to go.
Good luck if we actually end up making it!

Well game 4 is in Calgary so I'm a little confused as to where the flight would go.
I'm curious to know if they are getting a flight ready for game 2 on Sunday?

UPDATE: JumpOn! Take 2, One-Day Flight To Vancouver For Game 5 (Thurs Apr 23)
Like an idiot, I let 2 Aeroplan seats go while I waited for the schedule to be released. Now it's looking like an expensive weekend unless Gojumpon! comes through with a flight offer. Hopeful but not optimistic though.

I believe that JumpOn had a flight offer to Vegas last year.

That would be cool! Does anyone know generally how many days in advance they post their flights? Is it always a week roughly?

If Jumpon doesn't do a group offer, make sure you check out all the airports guys, and don't forget some of the airports like San Diego & Palm Springs. Westjet only does a seasonal direct to John Wayne and I believe that is during the summer. I'd recommend San Diego or Palm springs before LAX because of traffic problems. Don't forget to check Ontario, Burbank & Long Beach. Heck maybe even Santa Barbara if you feel like having a scenic drive along the Pacific Coast.
PS: If you fly to LAX on game day, you WILL be caught in traffic in which case it will take you 3 hours to get to Honda Center.
