I believe in the Jays.

Put it this way ...I'd rather he guarantee victory the muse about defeats. Besides, I like a bit of swagger.

No different when Hartley says at the beginning of the year that it's their goal to make the playoffs. No different that if Backlund doesn't say anything, their objective is to win the game and win the series.
Would love for the player to produce results but watching him this series it's definitely not for a lack of trying. Leads the team with 18 shots, forcing turnovers and giving Bennett the freedom of flying offensively. If he keeps this up, the points will come but I'm sure he and everybody else is more interested in the win.

Backlund has been as good as any Flame, and certainly was a force yesterday.
not into guarantees, but he needs to elevate his game to back up those words.

Backlund just recently turned 26 and is maturing into an all-around leader. Perfect!

Seems like a fairly standard response to the question. I would be concerned if he had said "no I really think we are going to lay an egg on Saturday, cant wait for game 7!". Having a mindset that you are going to win because you know how hard you are going to work seems ok to me.

I don't know if it's been mentioned here or not, but on TEAM 1040 today they were saying how all the game 6 pressure is on Calgary because "they absolutely do not want to go back to Vancouver".
If that's what Calgary does not want, what does Vancouver definitely not want? How stupid.

Seeing how Johnny guaranteed we'd make the playoffs, I guess like this move.

Backlund has been a beast this series. Good on him, hope the Flames can back up his words.

I thought Backlund played very well last night. Not sure why people are saying otherwise. I like what he said, I like the team being confident.

If Johnny can guarantee playoffs, I see no problem in Micki's guaranteeing round 2. I want confident players that believe in themselves. He knows the 4th win is the hardest, and he says they'll get it for the fans. That's the kind of the talk we should be wanting to hear from our players

Love the confidence. Backlund is the perfect fit for this team.
If Gio wasn't captain, I'd say Backlund would be next best.

Backlund should get an A. I suspect once the team and organization feels he is ready, Stajan would be happy to pass it on. An A seems to bring out the best out of a Flame. Backs last year, Hudler's meteoric rise, Russell's bursting onto the scene as a legit top pairing defenceman, Stajan being the ever reliable depth centerman.

Thats funny cause the coach of the Canucks said the complete opposite, that Vancouver has the pressure to win game 6. Which is common sense.

No problem with this if he stepped up his game but he's been one of the worst Flames tonight, so he probably shouldn't be guaranteeing anything anymore....

It's like the momentum died as soon as he missed the net on that 2 on 1 chance by a car's length and then he follows up with one of the weakest clearing attempts you will ever see. Talk about a guy putting his foot in his mouth.
