I can't help but feel as though we played a part in this. Is it narcissistic to think that CP was instrumental in focusing so much ridicule on the disaster up North that it accelerated this change?

Maybe a little. They became such a laughing stock that winning McDavid, which should have been a great moment for the franchise, was simply a chance for pretty much everyone to pile on how crappy they are. I think the Flames on ice play probably has more to do with it though.
