saw a lady with the surname "Slutsky" I'd prefer not to think about what her daughters would have to go through in school.

I'm going to guess it's the same family, but my dad worked at the newspaper (TDT) with Ralph Horney. We spent many evenings at the Horneys as kids, and laughed every time. At the TDT they all had name plates. Ralph wanted to change his middle name to Ulysses so his plate would say R.U. Horney.
I was back in Trail last year. The TDT has really gone downhill.

AFAIK, all 7 children have the initials R.U. I've met Richard and Rhonda several times and they both have middle initials that start with U. I could have sworn Richards middle name was Ulysses but I can't completely remember. I am positive Rhonda's middle name was Umber though.
But the reason I bump this topic I because my son was born last week and we named him Owen. We were at a birthday party for my eldest sons friend and a lady there asked what we named our newest addition. When we told her "Owen" she hesitated and said "Oh, that's interesting... Cute." Her two sons are named Justise and Duvalon. Justise with an 's' not a 'c'...

That's awesome. Owen is a great name, the others...not so much.

My Grandmother used to tell me that she went to school with a kid named Booger Red.
That was in Western Oklahoma in the 40's so I believe her to this day.

Dafuq?
When did naming your kids become a replacement for creating World of Warcraft characters?

Lol, Duvalon. That sounds like a name for a car. The Ford Duvalon. It's like people just throw random letters together to come with a name. I'm going to name my kid Rezipsfilis. Sounds unique right?

Sounds like something you'd get from picking up an Edmonton girl.

It's been many years since I've lived in Trail, but did it suddenly get "ethnic"?

No. It got out of hand and unique. Or should I say "yuuneik".
