Last time the Flames had a 3-1 lead in a series, the Canucks broke my heart, I havent felt an empty feeling like that until SCF 2004.

Where is this rumour coming from that Gio might be back in the lineup for round 2 if the Flames make it? That would be awesome.

He's not. It's from people who see him skating and assume that means he's close, completely ignoring the fact that it's an upper body injury and he can skate as much as he likes without being able to actually play hockey.

A bicep tear like the one Gio had is a 4 month heal time to resume workouts and 2 more to have it feel normal (according to those who have suffered the same injury)
It happened at the end of February and the 2nd round will begin at the end of April. I don't see even if he was rushing back that he would be anywhere close to being ready for even the middle of May.
If the Flames advance to the Conference finals or Stanley Cup, maybe, but that is an extremely unlikely scenario.

I woke up happy this morning. Not many thought the Flames would be here in the post season at the start of the year. Myself included. This is a great year to be a Flames fan!

On Coaches Corner last night Don Cherry made a good point - you don't advance in the Stanley Cup Playoffs just on the backs of your star players - you need your depth guys and role players to come through to.
Watch his comments here from the 2:20 to 3:20 mark on the Calgary Flames.
http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/r...-the-playoffs/
Cherry mentions Schlemko, Colborne, Brodie, Backlund, Bollig and Engelland. I would add names like Stajan and Ferland. Many of these guys are now playing some of the best hockey of season - Colborne down low on the boards, Stajan hustling on the forecheck (remember last game when he drew a penalty just as the Flames were going on the PK). Schlemko and Engelland just doing yeoman's work on the rearguard.
Combine our star players with the depth guys and you can see why things are working right now. GFG.

You're a 'pretty disciplined' team, and like Henrik said last night, you played a 'pretty good' game last night. Keep thinking that
|
The bolded is precisely why the Desjardins sent his players out to make three dirty plays in about five shifts. Because they want our clean hitting to be caught up with their dirty hitting and have it all shuttered by the league.

Still up on that high horse I see, you seem to gain more enjoyment out of trying to put others down than anything the Flames have done this year. Give it a rest

Only problem with Cherry's comments is that TJ Brodie IS one of our stars.

He doesnt seem to understand that being a 'star' and being 'gritty' are not mutually exclusive.

Fan fight caught on video:
http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/britis...ideo-1.3041389
Video of several hockey fans fighting at last Friday's Vancouver Canucks vs. Calgary Flames game at Rogers Arena has emerged online.
The video shows several men wearing Canucks and Flames jerseys involved in a scuffle outside a washroom after the game ended.
