Had an idea!
|
People are surprised at the results?
The Jets have had a habit of making dumb mistakes late in the 3rd period all year.
And I agree. Ladd is playing a terrible series.

Hope to see how the Flames will do against one of these Heavy teams in the 2nd round....
Can speed stand up to the physical assault that is allowed in the playoffs?
But I fear for the health of Brodie, Russell and Wideman .

Hard to say. Did well against the Kings, and they were the "Kings" of the heavy possession game

If regular season rules were in effect for the Ducks/Jets there would never be a 5 on 5.
There is interference ( and not just getting in the way but full stand up hits) on almost every dump in and hits are often a second or 2 after the pass has been made.
It is back to 2004 when the D is basically allowed to do anything to clear the crease.
There was no penalty call on Kesler running Stempniak into the net on the Jets goal. Nobody even commented on it.
Stempniak had gained position and was fair game on being cleared out whether or not he was close to the puck.

I did not see Game 2 but I thought the Jets was playing well in the first two periods in Game 1. It looks like they will make the Ducks earn the first round win. Game 3 in Winnipeg tomorrow so we'll find out if they can keep up with the Ducks.

40 min of 'playing well' doesn't mean crap if you choke hardcore in the 3rd the way Jets did both games. WPG wilts in the deep waters. If they don't fix that they'll get swept.
"Make them earn the win" is at best a laughable thing to say when they're down 2-0 in a series.

When you're the big underdog starting on the road you have to come home with at least a split. Winnipeg is likely finished.
Though that building will be rocking for game 3, will be fun to watch!

Anaheim is the best team in the west for a reason. And let's face it... The Jets were picked to finish in the bottom 5 by a cp pole and most pundits had Jets dead last in th central. This has been a fantastic season and tomorrow will be the first white out in 19 years. This is all gravy, as upset as I was last night.

Totally true, but watching the Jets down the stretch they looked better than an 8th place team. Many people picked them to do the LA kings model of playoff run because of their hard style

Anaheim and Wpg are both big, physical teams and this is a rough series. Whoever wins out of those two is going to be pretty worn out.

I think this combined with strong underlying advanced stats, combined with additions next year of Ehlers and some or all of Petan/Morrissey/Hellebuyck could mean a better seed or possibly home ice. Who knows.

If you read my post again, i said after 2nd period of Game 1, it looks like the Jets will make the Ducks earn the win. I didn't say it after the Game 2. I have no idea what happened in the 3rd period and the whole Game 2 because I didn't watch it. I wasn't cheering for any team in particular on this series. There is only one team I am cheering for in the playoff this season... it is the Flames and I don't give it a hoot what happened to the rest of the series.
I hope people read the entire post before they make fun of it.

Wait until next year. We could have as many as 4-5 prospects make the club:
Ehlers
Copp
Petan
Morrissey
Hellebuyck

Ehlers is a lock. He's nearly a 2 point per game player in the Q (I think?.. is that stupid?.. Im too lazy to google).
Copp isn't quite there yet.
Petan... I think he's 50-50.
Morrissey is a near lock.
Hellebuyck will sadly play in the AHL again. Hutch and Pavs are coming back my friend. Sorry
quick google check and this year Ehlers was roughly 2 points per game. Go Mooseheads!

In the QMJHL playoffs, Ehlers is tearing up the league. He has 31 points in 13 games, which is insane, and well ahead of everyone else in the league. It's Game 7 against a talented Moncton team, so his run could tome to an end. Ehlers could potentially be our breakout superstar forward.
Back on topic, I would like to see Ladd with less ice time. The Ducks special teams are killing us, and if were not for penalties, we would arguably be up 2-0 in this series. Lowry, Scheifele, and Trouba have been awesome. It's our top lines that have not come through. The Jets also need to pick the physical play up a notch. We also have to crash the crease, or find some way of distracting Anderson. The longer this series goes, the more likely the Jets will win it.
I just hope we can take Game 3. I'm taking it game by game. I can't sleep and I wish I could find somewhere in Alberta where Jets fans are gathering en mass.

Ok well now I'm kinda hoping Moncton wins and Ehlers can come in for game 4...
