I loved the wording, like Treliving having a spot of tea, while calling the NHL and using the words please and chaps multiple times.

I'm betting in reality there were a lot of four letter words with the sound of a caged Burkie packing in the background.

I'm not a linesman but

a) I'm sure they are aware that there are 10 skaters on the ice
b) each team has 5

so for linesman A to have a guy in white and linesman B to have a guy in white has to mean that ...

Blue
5 - 0 = 5 involved

White
5 - 2 = 3 involved

which could be a problem

Can the Flames appeal any suspension? If so, that'd be ideal. Get Engelland out there tomorrow night to continue his reign of terror, hopefully the team get a series lead, and give Hartley an extra few days to get his replacement (when the appeal is had but suspension upheld) some practice time.

I thought the suspension had to come through the NHLPA on behalf of the player.

Not even close to the intensity necessary to compete in a playoff game. Were it not for Colborne and Bennett on his line, he might look like Calgary's worst player.
Whoa, that's so opposite of what I've thought, I totally saw Backlund as the Flames best Centre the last couple games. People I've been watching with agree with that as well. Don't know how we could have such opposite views of the same player.

It isn't like baseball. Any appeal will be heard before tomorrow's game.

The Flames chipped and chased into the neutral zone in game 1 and their speed took over the game.
This. We CAN plan a physical game, like when we beat LA to make it into the playoffs this year. To be sure, the reffing has been awful and the Canucks are a dirty team but let's face it -- during most of the first two games they have been the physically dominant team. We need to finish our checks and take more ice especially in the offensive zone.

The problem is the Flames seem mentally out of it, like we're taking it too seriously. But still, I like our chances. Win both games at the Dome and close out the series in Van.

I hope this is what happens, and Bieksa is pretty cheap, but he's tough as nails and a good fighter. Ferland best be ready.

We're not mentally out of it. What it is is a mixture of rookies perhaps a little in awe, guys who are playing hurt and an already depleted lineup. The Canucks, OTOH, are healthy and have experience. We've always been significant underdogs in this series, yet we're coming back with home ice advantage. The state of the series thus far reflects poorly on Vancouver, not Calgary.

Agreed though I didn't ask that question. Your quoting function is doing funky things

Good post Resolute.
Fans are just riding the roller coaster of highs and lows. Flames do need to find their game and force the Canucks to play it, though. Even though the split in Vancouver favours the Flames, the Canucks are controlling the play and tempo, and their physical play on our D will wear them down.

Still expecting a seven -game series.

I dunno if it will end up going seven but I wouldn't be surprised if they split the next two as well.

I disagree. We were outplayed in both games so far. If we want to win this series then we need to find our game, and quickly. Our first line in particular needs to get it going.

We were vastly outplayed in the first period both games. The rest of the time scoring chances are dead even, goals (excluding EN) are even, shots are even. We weren't really outplayed either game outside of the first periods

Double overtime for the Hitmen caused me to miss last night, but from what I saw in game one, I would say that was an even contest. They were strong early, we were strong late. Even on shots, close on Corsi, etc.

If you would have told me prior to the start of the series that the Flames would have scored a total of three goals and the series would be tied 1-1, I wouldn't have believed it.

Really? That's not that far fetched if you allow for the possibility of a shutout.

Sure our stats aren't bad. But our passing has declined, too many poor giveaways, mental mistakes that we shouldn't be making.
